The atmosphere of the place and the attentiveness of the staff are really good. To be fair, the food is probably delicious as well. However, the menu is extremely limited.
Here’s what happened to me: I can’t eat seafood, not just because I don’t like it, but because it physically doesn’t agree with me. It’s not a matter of preference. But the menu only had seafood dishes, with just one or two alternatives. I asked one of the servers, “Is there really nothing without seafood? Is this all? It seems very limited.” And they jokingly responded with something like, “Well, it’s Japanese cuisine, hahaha—how could it not have seafood?”
I’m sorry, but I know Japanese cuisine. There are plenty of non-seafood options. If the restaurant’s description had specified only sushi or only seafood, I wouldn’t have come in the first place. But clearly, they could make dishes without seafood; they just choose not to. They have noodles, for example, but only with shrimp. The same noodles could easily be made with beef or chicken.
If they’re trying to build some sort of exclusive reputation by refusing to use chicken or beef—maybe to avoid seeming cheap—that’s fine. But it was frustrating because I could barely eat anything. In the end, I only had edamame (just to have something to eat) and chicken yakitori. Thankfully, that was available at least.
I probably won’t come back here simply because there’s nothing I can eat. They don’t need to lower their standards or serve low-quality food; just adding a bit more variety—like using beef or chicken instead of seafood in some dishes—wouldn’t hurt their reputation. They clearly care a lot about their image, but in this case, they lost a potential customer. We ordered the special sushi and sashimi platter which looked like a good variety of interesting dishes from the photo provided. However this was not what we received. Several of the items were missing or replaced by cheaper substitutes. Therefore not very 'special'. When I suggested to the waitress that we may have been served the wrong platter and pointed to an item which was missing she said, "you don't get what is in the photo" and then said we could buy it as a seperate dish. Therefore the item was available but hadn't been included in our platter and replaced by a much cheaper item instead. All I wanted was what we selected from the menu. The photo was therefore very misleading and I felt I had been lied to. No attempt was made to resolve this and supply the missing item which would have been easy to do. Read moreHo fatto un ordine su deliveroo con questo ristorante ma avevo notato di aver ordinato le cose sbagliate e tra una cosa e un’altra abbiamo deciso di annullare l’ordine, chiedo di annullarlo subito ma deliveroo non riesce a mettersi in contatto con loro al che ci provo io e rispondono, chiedo espressamente di annullare l’ordine ma mi dicono che non si può siccome era già pronto, cosa molto strana siccome ho chiamato 2 min dopo aver ordinato ed era un ordine per due persone, quindi ho chiesto di non spedirlo siccome non avevamo intenzione di consumarlo e che volevamo un rimborso, il signore al telefono sembrava non capire perché all’inizio mi ha detto “va bene non lo spediamo” ma poi ha fatto di testa sua. In tutti ciò chiedo a deliveroo di annullare l’ordine e mi dicono che non possono fare il rimborso finché non lo annulla il ristorante quindi si mettono in contatto con il ristorante e chiedono informazioni sull’accaduto e insistono sul non annullare l’ordine, quindi richiamo io e chiedo di parlare con il titolare e la persona al telefono afferma di essere lui il titolare (anche peggio) e che non annulla l’ordine e mi chiude in faccia, tra litigi vari e cercare di mettermi in contatto con deliveroo mi arriva l’ordine dopo 1 ora e mezza di attesa nonostante avessi chiesto di non spedirlo, mi ritrovo sotto casa il “titolare” con l’ordine in mano e mi chiede di accettarlo, io ho rifiutato e chiamato di nuovo l’assistenza, si rifiutava di annullare l’ordine nonostante fosse già tornato al ristorante quindi l’ho fatto contattare da un supervisore su deliveroo per far annullare l’ordine siccome risultava ancora in spedizione dopo 30 min riescono ad annullarlo e mi fanno il rimborso. Insomma tutto questo casino e ansie inutili a causa del personale incompetente del ristorante e se quella persona era davvero il titolare allora la situazione è molto grave, una persona che continua a preparare un ordine e lo spedisce nonostante il cliente voglia annullarlo solo perchè non vuole che si faccia alcun rimborso è una mossa meschina e subdola.
