L'Ancora — Restaurant in Milan

Absolutely fantastic. Super quick walk from the new M4 stop at Argonne and absolutely worth the metro ride. Food was delicious, the restaurant had a great atmosphere, and everyone was incredibly friendly - and welcoming to our two kids. The staff doesn’t speak strong English, but they have a menu in English and we did just fine. House wines by the glass were delicious and all the food we ordered was top-notch - the risotto and gnocchi were particularly good. Kids got spaghetti and pizza and said they were 6 stars out of 5. We came here on our last night on a trip from the US and wish we had come earlier so that we could have visited...

English of the staff was very poor here. Pizza was very good but when I went to pay the bill was almost twice as expensive as it should have been. I feel like the staff may be attempting to rip off tourists. Our bill should have been €13, and when I go to pay it’s suddenly €23 and the man at the till very quickly pushed the card machine in front of me, as if to tap my card before I can cop the wrong prices.

When I questioned him on it he became very flustered, removing numerous added items to the bill and finally giving us the real price.

Wouldn’t recommend this spot unless...

We had a delightful dinner here. The pasta alla Scoglio was one of the best we've ever had—featuring a perfectly balanced sauce and a generous portion of seafood. We ended the meal with tiramisu, which was incredibly tender and delicious. The staff were kind and very welcoming.
