Booked our next evening here before our meals arrived, it was that good.
A spectacular pearl in the west of Milan, l’immagine Bistrot Ristorante will show you what an incredible dining experience looks like.
We were greeted by the owner, Mirko (with a charming story about his name- we won’t tell you, book in dinner and ask yourself!) and his lovely staff. The surrounds of the restaurant encapsulate a true vintage feel with wooden paneling and display bottles at the bar from decades ago.
At our table, we were greeted by a host of lolly jars, a basket of fresh bread and bottles of sparkling and still water. Our waitress greeted us warmly and gave some recommendations from their amazing menu.
We chose the meatballs as a starter followed by the papardelle with slow-cooked lamb sauce, the home-made stuffed tortellini with pear and Gorgonzola and the truffle creams ravioli.
Oh my word…
I’m sure you can all think of a time when you went out to eat somewhere and everything you had was amorphous and tasted good but so uniform you couldn’t pick anything out.
Prepared to be amazed- you can taste every little thing and it’s so moreish. The napolitana sauce on the meatballs taste so fresh, I swear they have a herb garden right by the kitchen door and the fresh tomato taste- out of this world. The flavour ensemble just grew and grew, like a world class symphony of flavours and pure enjoyment. Luckily, you get some gnocco fritti (lightly fried bread) to mop up the delicious sauces.
I was so set on dessert but I was fully satisfied by the mains and appetizer. I wasn’t too worried because we are going back in a few nights anyway!
We also tried the meloncello- I’ve always loved limoncello but the meloncello is so something else. Sweet but not too sweet, creamy and has not lost any melon element you get from eating a fresh cantaloupe in peak season…
In summary, it was a delightful and delicious evening. The service was second to none and we truly felt like family.
Thank you! See you...
Read moreThis restaurant was phenomenal, in every sense of the word! It’s a hidden gem, a few miles away from the city center and the Duomo, but it was well worth making the trip! When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner and the staff, and they were a lot of fun! They were genuinely excited to see us, and welcomed us warmly, asking where we were from, how long we’ve been in Italy, and it really felt like they wanted to get to know us. We immediately felt like family. As they led us to our table, we noticed that on every table, there were several large glass jars full of candy! Gummy bears, licorice, lollipops, everything you could imagine! My sweet tooth has never been so excited! Then, they brought us a basket of fresh bread and a basket of fried bread. Both were delicious! We started with a meatball appetizer and sun dried San Maranzano tomatoes. Both were fabulous. Then, we ordered pear and Parmesan stuffed ravioli in a Zola fondue with walnuts, lasagna Bolognese, and, of course Osso Buco with risotto. All were done to perfection! We finished our meal with some of the best tiramisu that we’ve ever had! This place was so good, that we went back the next night! On night number two, we again had the pear/parmesan ravioli, we had pappardelle with lamb ragu, and we had braised beef in a Chianti reduction sauce that was slow cooked for 14 hours. Once again, everything was done perfectly. We finished off our second meal with salted caramel cheesecake. If you’re visiting Milan, I can’t recommend this place enough. It is truly something special! Give it a try. Trust me, you’ll be glad...
