The food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but the experience was soured by the attitude we received when asking about a charge on our bill — the “coperto.”
When I politely asked about it, the man at the register responded with a condescending tone, asking if I had ever been to Italy before and telling me it’s normal. I wasn’t disputing the charge, I just wanted to understand what it was. I had just come from another restaurant about 10 feet away where I had a few drinks and wasn’t charged anything like that.
It’s not about the 4 Euros — it’s about the principle. Restaurants shouldn’t expect tourists to blindly pay fees without explanation, and certainly not treat them poorly when they ask questions.
Extremely poor way of handling a simple inquiry. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area with just as good food and much better customer service. I’ve attached a photo for context. I’d recommend trying other spots...
Read moreFood was very good. Really tasty.
Now, the waiter with the slick back hair and shaved sides who basically forced a service charge on top of the order? Questionable. He was basically really aggressive and rude. Never smiled or said anything positive and demanded we stack our plates. It’s a joke of a service. He’s lucky the food is half decent.
Took ages for drinks and would constantly be shouting in Italian and ushering people away, I have eaten in lots of places but it was like he wanted a fight. I was told all Italians are like it but I know that’s not true.
And lastly, if there was a blonde woman nearby he would be more than happy to bring them over or actually crack a smile.
I get it. You hate your job, but treat all people decently and decency will come your way. And remember he will tell you what’s on the menu. Absolute joker….if you see him on shift? Go somewhere else…it’s not worth it. It felt...
Read moreMiserable staff and food. I didn’t feel any passion for the food or service. Had a pizza which was 6/10 by Italian standards and slightly soggy in middle. Also had a salad which was really poorly presented and bland. When the bill came the miserable waiter told me I needed to add service. I really shouldn’t have agreed but just couldn’t be bothered to have the conversation. I told him to add 5 Euro’s to a 32 euro bill. He actually rounded it up to 40 euro but as soon as he presented the card machine he really sprang into life, massive smile, “so where you guys from?” etc. Completely threw me and I now think it’s because he put more tip on than I’d asked. I’m not bothered about the money but this place is the first on the canal and best avoided in my view. Plenty of other restaurants a...
