Mi casa Toasteria — Restaurant in Milan

Relaxed place with great value and very friendly service. The motto on the wall is “Mi Casa is Family, and Family is Sharing” We shared a bowl of the Vegetale soup shown in the translated photograph as ‘Legume soup’; with potatoes, lentils, cannellini beans, borlotti beans, chickpeas, barley, spelt, onion, courgette with extra-virgin olive oil, tomato purée, and salt and pepper. and a grilled cheese sandwich- The DELICATO with Fontina DOP, melted brie, parmesan flakes, honey and ground black pepper, on the daily bread which was Almond. It was served in triangles speared on skewer. Perfect balance of flavours. All 8 soups are vegan, at €9, served with dry bread croutons in a paper bag, or gluten free bread for an extra Euro. The patio is busy in warmer weather, particularly at cocktail hour; and it is popular with local families. I’ve added screen shots of translated menu pages, but they aren’t complete as I only included pics of items that are vegetarian so that we could order dinner. With only €1.50 cover it is a reasonable place for a snack or light meal especially for vegans and vegetarians. The big salads are €10.50, whereas most other places charge 13-14. Avevo aspettative alte visto anche il passaparola riguardante questo posto. Spoiler: esperienza pessima. Prenotazione per 16 persone alle h20:30 effettuata con una settimana di anticipo. Siamo arrivati al locale all’ora prevista, ma non c’era la minima traccia dei nostri tavoli così abbiamo chiesto ai camerieri se effettivamente la prenotazione l’avessero ricevuta e segnalata (direi di sì visto l’acconto lasciato il giorno successivo alla telefonata). Alle 20:50 le cameriere mandano via in fretta e furia delle persone per farci avere i posti e 20 minuti dopo sono riusciti a farci “accomodare”, anche se non tutti visto che mancavano lo stesso tre sedie. Una volta seduti (h21:10 circa) abbiamo dovuto attendere altri 15-20 minuti solo per poter ricevere le posate, mentre per ordinare da bere, visto che nessuno ci calcolava, abbiamo dovuto aspettare fino alle h21:45. Il cibo è arrivato alle h22:10 circa, solamente dopo una nostra sollecitazione visto che eravamo affamati. I drink sono arrivati alle h22:15. Durante la telefonata per la prenotazione, è stato chiesto esplicitamente se le portate fossero abbondanti vista l’elevato numero di persone; ci è stato così suggerito di prendere un tagliere ogni 4 persone ed 1 piatto con 6 tartine ciascuno. Abbiamo accolto il suggerimento ed optato per questa scelta; la grandezza del tagliere era adatta, discorso diverso per le portate di cibo, per esempio due soli toast a tagliere non erano assolutamente sufficienti. Giudizio comune: i toast non sono piaciuti, e non sono stati trovati all’altezza da quelli che già erano venuti al locale. La torta, invece, era molto buona, forse l’aspetto migliore della serata. Per concludere, abbiamo trovato una disorganizzazione incredibile, come se non fosse stata comunicata la nostra presenza nonostante la settimana di pre-avviso e il cibo assolutamente insufficiente in termini di quantità e infatti ce ne siamo andati ancora affamati. Mi dispiace solamente per le cameriere che ci hanno servito che ci hanno chiesto scusa più volte, evidentemente imbarazzatissime per la pessima gestione della nostra esperienza. Forse, anzi sicuramente dimentico qualcos’altro, ma spero solamente che se ci sarà una prossima volta sia...

After we placed order of two toast they asked us to leave the table because it was reserved. Probably they are judging on orders or they have other concerns but this was definitely not ethical.

this doesn't make sense, can you check with your waiters if we asked this is ok to sit here or not? if you are not aware just for your information you have to put on table small paper where its written reserved so you prove that you don't reserve it to someone you like when others already sitting on table, last but not least if i didn't ask if table is free why they are taking orders preparing table and than asking for leave. no worries i am sure you are always right,...
