A group of 4 of us came in for dinner. One of our party was a vegetarian. We stopped outside to look at the menu and the maitre D handed us out a menu. It looked impressive, but there wasn’t much choice for our vegetarian friend. The maitre d said they could accommodate her, no problem. So we went in, and we were delighted we did. The restaurant was warm and welcoming, the tables decorated tastefully and there was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, even though there were few customers in. To start we shared a calamari starter and a tomato and mozzarella dish. Both were delicious. The calamari were cooked to perfection, after being lightly dusted in flour. The bread basket that came, was hot out of the oven and accompanied by a really good quality olive oil and a balsamic vingegar. Of course we ate it so quickly, we had to get a second! I had the risotto Milanese with osso bocco. The meat fell off the bone and was full of flavour. The risotto was cooked to perfection. The other 3 ladies had pasta dishes, cooked to order, fresh and fabulous (my veggie friend was very impressed with how she was accommodated. She also loved her food). We had a bottle of red and white on the table that were reasonably priced and of very good quality. When we thought we couldn’t fit any more food in, it was time for desert. We couldn’t resist trying some as the quality of the food had been so good, so we ordered a crème brûlée and a homemade grandmas apple tart. Both were exquisite! I would highly recommend this restaurant. We felt relaxed, welcomed, catered to, and well fed. The staff were very lovely, and again, so accommodating and really good value. I just felt sorry for my husband and son who would love to have been there with...
Read moreIt's been over a month since we visited this restaurant but I wanted to give some proper thought on writing about our wonderful experience dining there.
We stumbled across this restaurant in search of vegetarian food in an area where we realized options were limited and were very warmly welcomed in. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful as it had a lovely lavender theme and was classy and spacious. The owners were very accommodating and gladly suggested some vegetarian options for our family of five.
The bread and chilli oil starter was fresh and tasty and was an incredible preview of the dishes that were to come. We started off with vegetarian pizza which was incredible...having had pizza so often during our trip we were blown away by how delicious this vegetarian pizza was. And just when we thought nothing could top the pizza out came another incredible dish - a mushroom and zucchini risotto. Each dish was a marvel and yet again the owner/chef presented us with another outstanding dish - pear and cheese ravioli with poppy seeds. Each dish danced on our taste buds sending waves of euphoric delight.
We ended the meal with tiramisu and coffee - which we agreed was the best we ever had. The authenticity and sincerity of the owners/chefs shines through their food. They really put their heart into each dish. The owner was kind and stopped by to create some banter. Thank you thank you thank you to the owners for making this culinary excursion a memory we will forever cherish not only of our time in Milan but our entire stay in Europe! Wish you continued success in creating everlasting memories in creating food...
Read moreI am a vegetarian and I was a little hesitant when I first saw the menu - however, the waiter (the owner’s son as it turns out) said they would be happy to accommodate my dietary needs. I ordered a Chef’s Recommended dish, ravioli with spinach and Parmesan (hold the meat). We were served a basket of warm bread and olive oil to start. It was the best bread I think I have ever had - tasted like what the ideal bread should be. The Focaccia is a 70-year old family recipe. The ciabatta was a beautiful pillow, and the French roll a delightful treat. The main dish (pasta) came out just a little while later. The ravioli was cooked al dente - to perfection. The sauce, incredible. The Parmesan was strong but not overbearing, just right for the dish. The presentation was lovely, with a ring of chocolate balsamic and fruit around the exterior! When I finished the plate I was sad that it was gone! We ordered the chocolate soufflé and vanilla ice cream for desert... at this point I was holding back tears. It was just as amazing as what had come before - soufflé served warm on a shallow pool of creme and glaze. Let us not forget the Limoncello at the end - again I was hesitant to take the shot because of a rather uncomfortable previous experience with Limoncello. But when the owner, Aurora, told me that her husband made it himself, I knew it was going to be perfect. And it was. Thank you to Aurora and her son for giving me the best dining experience I have had on my trip to Italy. If you are into eating for pleasure, I highly recommend...
