Osteria da Flavio Ristorante a Milano — Restaurant in Milan

My review might not be relevant for those looking for food recommendations, but just dropped by to leave a review because I was so impressed by the owner/staff’s warm hospitality and genuine nature. Unfortunately I forgot to get his name. We actually were heading to the restaurant for lunch but unfortunately reached at closing time and weren’t able to grab a seat. The gentleman just gestured to us that there weren’t accepting anymore guests and as he was in the midst of serving food, he didn’t say anything more.

After we left the restaurant, he ran after us to personally apologise for not being able to cater to us (and he has absolutely nothing to apologise for! We were the ones who arrived late!) and gifted my kids with a chocolate lollipop each.

In Italy where there are so many amazing restaurants serving similar dishes, I feel that this personal touch really warmed my heart and I hope to have the chance to eat at this restaurant again should I...

Had dinner here 2 nights in a row because it was so good. Far surpasses many of the other meals we’ve had in the last 5 days in Milan. Service was very warm and friendly despite the place only having the chef and owner doing everything. They took time to recommend what to have and explain each dish which we really appreciated. The food: Had the seafood fantasy, burrata with anchovies and chicory, and the octopus. All were good. Octopus was a little tougher than I usually like but very tasty. Tagliatelle with white ragout and porcini was great- delicate flavour which I enjoyed. Ossobucco was also very good with a nice balance of sweet and savoury. I ate there with my wife, it was a wonderful experience, the food is fresh and local, the staff is wonderful and took the time to spoke with the customers. We are french and the owner with his wife and his chief came to talk with us, it was wonderful we talked about France which they love and where we come from. Wonderful experience we came only one time but we were treated like we was part of the family, wonderful. The owner offered us a whisky, very nice peoples.
