Luigi Teperino Pizzeria - Modena 2.0 — Restaurant in Modena

Undoubtedly one of the best Pizzeria in Modena and likely Emilia-Romagna. It is located a bit outside the city center and it is not very easy to find a parking spot (if you are by car), but the effort is totally worth it. They specialize in "Neapolitan style" pizza, my personal favorite. Believe me: if it is not the exactly of the same quality you find in Naples itself, the pizza at Pizzeria del Viale 2.0 is as close as you can get outside Campania. You MUST try the classics (such as margherita) and the pizza fritta. They also offer special pizzas with fine ingredients and interesting combinations. Desserts are quite tasty too! Miki researched this as one of the best pizza restaurants. Just so happens to be a brief walk from the Enzo Ferrari museum. Just so happens had the euros on Spain v Germany so opted to sit inside. As with many restaurants 715pm is very quiet Bit filled up much later on and the conclusion of the match fitted well. The pizzas are huge and I advise don't get a starter unless your really really hungry. We had a mixed platter for 2 and it really filled you up. Adding a mixed salad, we found the pizza didn't take long. With a large mixed salad. Needless to say we didn't finish the pizza. A bit of take home in order. Beste Calzone ever

Wenn man des Abends in einer kleineren italienischen Stadt ein wenig außerhalb etwas warmes essen möchte, tut man sich ein wenig schwer. Die meisten Restaurants oder Pizzerien öffnen frühestens ab 19 Uhr, ansonsten bekommt man maximal kalte Küche. Ich hätte es eigentlich wissen müssen, war ich doch schon mehrfach in Bella Italia, doch lag mein letzter Besuch dort 23 Jahre zurück. Das merkte ich auch dort, das Personal war ein wenig genervt und gab mir zu verstehen, sie würden um 19 Uhr öffnen.

So verbrachte ich erstmal eine 45 Minuten in einer nahgelegenen Bar und ging dann gegen 19.15 Uhr zum Lokal. Auf meine Frage, ob ein Platz für eine Person frei wäre, wurde ich dann an einen Platz geführt und mir wurde gesagt er wäre bis 20 Uhr frei.

Trotz dieser eher unerfreulichen – für Mitteleuropäer maximal in Restaurants mit hohem Kundenumschlag bekannten Methodik – ließ ich mich darauf ein. Und wurde nicht enttäuscht.

Die Preise dort sind im österreichischen Normalbereich anzusiedeln. Die Speisekarte war nicht sonderlich groß, dafür überschaubar. So bestellte ich mir die Calzone Napoletana, da ich gespannt war, was darunter verstanden wird und Calzone sowieso meine Lieblingspizza ist. Nichtitaliener kennen nur die Calzone, gute/sehr gute italienische Pizzerien in D/A bieten da mehrere Sorten an.

Über die Füllung möchte ich mich nicht großartig äußern, der Käse war toll, doch der Teig war ein absolutes Gedicht. Dazu ein Viertel Rotwein und zum Abschluss einen Espresso, der für mich in Italia nicht fehlen darf.

So konnte ich über die eher unerfreulichen Erlebnisse locker hinwegsehen, denn sobald ich in der Pizzeria saß, war die Bedienung überaus freundlich, professionell und äußerst zuvorkommend. Die Wartezeit war relativ kurz und ich konnte meinen Hunger schnell stillen. Sollte ich nochmals nach Modena kommen, wird ein Abend sicher dort verbracht werden.
