Ai Portici — Restaurant in Monopoli

Me and my boyfriend were looking for best reviewed place serving pizza on google, since we wanted to eat typical Italian pizza. When we found out we are 40 meters from Ai Portici, and it has good reviews, we didn’t hesitate to give it a try. I had a problem with choosing a pizza since they have so many, but i’ve got a help from one of the waiters. We also ordered two glasses of local prosecco, at the same time as we ordered pizza. We mentioned while ordering, that we would like to have some wine with pizza later on. Unfortunately, two glasses of prosecco were never delivered to the table. Also on one of our pizza was missing basil (as menu described). The waiter completely forgot about us and came to check on us, when we finished. At the end, while asked for the bill, we were negatively surprised - the bill included glasses of prosecco, which we never received. If we didn’t check the bill properly, we would have get scammed. Bad service, but...

We called two days in advance to reserve a table. The waiter told us something like "who arrives first will take the empty table". So we arrived at 20, it was completely empty inside. They wanted to push us outside (there was very very hot). We insisted to be inside referring to the call we had two days before. At the end of a long argument they accepted, nevertheless they punished us with the worst service I experienced in my life. After 40 minutes we left while almost all the tables were still empty. Pizza was really good, the service ruined everything. The service is the interface and only contact with customers. You can invest a lot in making your kitchen really good but, please remember, bad service can really destroy...

I was pleasantly surprised that this very well reviewed pizza place did vegan pizza. Me and my partner went and were delighted to see 3 vegan options. I ordered one and when it arrived it was missing one of its toppings leaving it more like a crispy bread with some bits on top. Still nice enough but not really pizza. I tried to get a waiter to ask about it but they were so understaffed on a busy Saturday it was so hard to get anyone’s attention. The management needs to have more than 3 staff waiting on so many guests! It was a shame because the pizza could have been really great with...
