La Tana del Luppolo — Restaurant in Monopoli

Revisited La Tana del Luppolo last night, having been there a few times. My overall impression is excellent, but let's break it down:

Atmosphere: is relaxed and welcoming. It has an informal vibe; most importantly, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Food: I had baked potatoes and a seafood sandwich called Calypso. I'm a fan of roasted octopus sandwiches, and this modern twist with mint stracciatella and fried zucchini is genuinely a perfect 10. Beer: If there's a paradise for beer lovers, this is it. Over 300 craft beers and 5 on tap that change weekly. I got recommendations from Onofrio, who's like an artificial intelligence: you tell him your beer preferences, and he suggests a range of beers that match your tastes. Truly amazing! Interessante birreria scoperta quasi per caso, in un umido sabato sera d’inverno, stagione in cui il centro storico di Monopoli smette di essere uno dei centri pulsanti del turismo locale e assume un’aria più intima, dimessa e silenziosa, quasi letargica ma decisamente più rilassante. Questo pub mi è piaciuto molto, innanzitutto per la gentilezza, la disponibilità e l’armonia che ho riscontrato in tutto il personale, poi per l’atmosfera ed infine - last but not least - per il cibo. Per un’amante della birra quale io sono, la Tana del Luppolo è stata una manna dal cielo: nella loro lista ho trovato - deo gratias! - non le solite, inflazionate, comuni, tristi e banali birre che tutti i locali, bar, rosticcerie, propinano al mondo senza alcuno slancio di fantasia… qui c’è tanto altro! E vogliamo parlare delle loro frittelle? Bollenti, leggere, dorate, croccanti e assolutamente prive di quel classico tanfo di frittura, tipico dell’olio esausto, tanto caro alla gastrite! Sarei andata in cucina ad abbracciarne l’autore/autrice: potete ammirarle in una delle foto… e ditemi se non vi sembrano fantastiche! Buoni anche gli hamburger e il roast-beef con la salsa tonnata homemade. Ho visto passare anche gustosi taglieri e un interessante stinco con le patate, ma penso che li riserverò per le mie prossime...

Gastropubs have become really popular in South Italy and since they offer a nice combination of good food and youthful vibe, we chose one also in Monopoli.
