MODERNO Monza — Restaurant in Monza

This is one of those little gems that you often find in Italy (they are however, to tell the truth becoming increasingly rare). What first caught my eye was a magnificent cake stand (I think 3-tier), presented with an aperitivo, as we passed by on our bikes and I vowed we would return. We did return but, as we were on a cycling outing, it was just for cappuccino and brioche. They were perfect! Now, I've mentioned this in my reviews before and I know it's hard to believe, but It's getting sooo hard to find a decent brioche and cappuccino nowadays. This is not the case here. The location, the products, the service: excellent! Downside, the cost reflects the standard. However, it's not everyday that you sit down to enjoy such a treat, and in my opinion, it should be considered a treat, therefore, it's well worth paying the price for quality goods and location, as opposed to frozen pastries, mediocre location and non-existent service/courtesy. Pessimo ritorno, non ho piu trovato i vecchi gestori ma, qualcuno che lo sta rovinando. Si tratta di un bel bar, ristorante storico in centro. Mi fermo per un buon ricordo, con amici, attirato dalla proposta ben in vista per il wend per il brunch. Ci fanno attendere circa 15 minuti in strada perché devono liberare dei tavoli e l'unico cameriere esterno è insufficiente. Finalmente ci sediamo e puliscono il tavolo, togliendo il vasetto centrotavola . Finalmente arriva un signore senza divisa, che ci chiede cosa mangiamo. Il Brunch che avete a menu! Ci risponde che non ha fatto in tempo a preparare il brunch e la lavagna è rimasta li dal wend precedente🤔. Alternativa? Potete ordinare dal nostro menù...ci abbandona. Poi torna per sistemare frettolosamente il tavolo a fianco per 2 clienti dove c'erano appoggiati 3 vasetti centrotavola. Dopo aver pulito la tovaglia con le mani, si scusa con la coppia non spiegandosi perche ci siano 3 vasetti e ne porta via 1 😩. Torna e ci chiede se siamo pronti; Certamente ero pronto; gli chiedo 4 aperitivi, rimane titubante (ometto le sue parole), gli indico un tavolo esterno con 2 ragazzi che bevono, con piatti di struzzichini al centro. Si riprende e dice che si tratta di stuzzichini più bere a 12 euro a persona. A questo punto volevo già uscire, ma ho accettato per capire se fosse solo un monento di distrazione. Curiosità professionale. Guardando il menù troviamo che i calici di prosecco partono da 10euro circa. Essendo in 4 optiamo per una bottiglia di Franciacorta a menù: 45€. Il vero cameriere unico in divisa rimane perplesso sull' aperitivo e afferma:" Se ve lo ha detto lui !". Non è ancora finita. Quando torna il signore ci spiega che il prezzo del Franciacorta è per chi usa il ristorante mentre per l'aperitivo è di 60 euro. Altro desiderio di fuggire.... ma sono passati 40 minuti e quindi accetto senza discutere. Il prezzo per quel posto è in effetti corretto ma, il signore è meglio che non serva o parli con i clienti e, lasci fare a qualche cameriere sicuramente più competente, un buon lavoro. Segnalo anche che hanno un bellisimo bancone dolci e bar e proprio in quel frangente, locale pieno, circa le 13, ha incaricato una sua dipendente di addobbare per natale usando una scala per appendere le stringhe natalizie al mobilio. Dove cadeva la polvere o oltro? La cosa era poco igenica e un bravo barman li sotto gli ha detto:" ma proprio adesso devo farlo fare?. Per esperienza ci vogliono anni per creare una immagine di qualità e reputazione per un locale ...ma con certe persone basta 1 gg per distruggerla. We were welcomed by the waiter to sit for lunch he was very kind but it all changed after we sat down. We wanted to get drinks and pizza. After ordering 3 drinks we were completely ignored. More people arrived they were seated and orders taken and nothing for our table.

It was very confusing. We tried to wait and be patient but it was too long, we were seated in a very visible area we saw the waiter come and go to tables and ignore us. At one point we waved at him and he said “si si” very rude and then didn’t come. Totally ignored us. This has never happened to us before in Europe, Asia or America. No reason to treat clients like this.

Another thing is they brought 3 appetizers we didn’t order but decided to eat because we couldn’t order food. We payed and left. There is no reason to be treated like this.

The bathroom is totally unaccessible on the third floor and the inside looked dirty.
