A Hidden Gem of Authentic Sardinian Cuisine

If you’re looking to experience real Sardinian food, look no further than Ristorante Barbagia in Olbia. Tucked away from the touristy hustle, this unassuming spot delivers simple, honest, and absolutely delicious traditional dishes that locals swear by — and for good reason.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place is beloved by those who know it best: the locals. On a weekend night, the restaurant was completely full, buzzing with Sardinian families, couples, and groups of friends. It’s the kind of place where the regulars greet the staff by name — and you quickly understand why.

The food? Exceptional. Nothing fancy or overdone, just flavorful, home-style cooking done right.

The menu sticks close to tradition, which is exactly what makes this place so special. No gimmicks, no fusion — just pure, soulful Sardinian food cooked with love.

Service is warm and informal, and while the restaurant is always busy, the staff still take time to explain dishes or help with recommendations. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes.

Honestly, this is the kind of restaurant you almost don’t want to review — just to keep it a secret. The locals probably hope tourists never discover it, so it stays the treasure that it is. But it deserves every bit of praise. If you want to taste Sardinia like the Sardinians do, Ristorante...

I normally don’t write reviews, but I found this one worth mentioning. We ordered a tiramisu, which was served frozen to us. We hardly managed to eat one spoon from it, it tasted like the ones from the supermarket, but frozen. When we mentioned it to the sir who served us, he proposed to put it in the microwave for us. We didn’t feel comfortable with the idea eating tiramisu from the microwave, firstly to prevent getting sick and secondly, it would become liquid-not appealing to eat. The sir still added it to our bill when we went to pay. After we complained twice, he extracted it from the bill. The food was also mediocre for its high price, and it wasn’t...

I was there for dinner for my first night in Olbia. I arrived three around 9 pm and was told there's no table for one person. When I was about to leave, I saw several empty tables which can easily accommodate me and asked again to the owner of the restaurant and I was able to get seated finally.

After approximately 50 mins of waiting time, Borttarga pasta was served. Happy that I also ordered a starter otherwise I couldn't handle my hunger.

I paid around 40 euro for a glass of prosecco in a stink glass (probably wiped with a unwashed tea towel), ok misto salumi sardi and spaghetti bottarga, which gave me stomach...
