Gelateria Villi — Local services in Olbia

I was about to leave a five star review for this gelateria thinking that I've finally tasted the best ice cream in Italy, but unfortunately I can only leave one star.. (I'd leave zero stars if I could).

That's the perfect example of how a castle of illusions can be destroyed in a fraction of a second. And it's not the product that they're selling that is wrong, but a customer service and specifically the tall dark hair lady who proudly introduced herself as a sister in law of the owner. She was very rude since the first moment she served arrogantly looking at each of our requests to taste an ice cream, or having a thought deciding which taste we want to go for. Eventually she overcharged our group by 3Eur and after raising it with her she started arguing and still not admitting her mistake, she corrected the price. That's not the worst part as when we asked for a receipt of a purchase to make sure the correct price was charged or we won't been charged twice, she started to arrogantly shouting at us, and when confronted that it's not the right behaviour (there were dozens of other customers inside at the same time witnessing it), she asked us to leave.. Seriously??? After openly praising this gelateria for a number of days to the staff and saying how good their gelato was, and spending more than hundred of euros there, we were asked to leave?? Only because we asked for a proof of receipt when they tried to overcharge our group??

Honestly I was seriously considering bringing this business to the other country as a franchise opportunity, and thought that I've found the best gelato here. A perfect example that people actually buy people but not the service or product they offer, and even the best product can ruin any business with improper attitude of people representing the business.

I hope the owner reads this and can estimate the costs of having arrogant relative working for them, and using their 'position' to arrogantly and rudely communicate with their customers.

After spending over a week searching for truly great gelato in Sardegna — from Budoni to Olbia, San Teodoro to Tanaunella — we finally struck gold at Vili Gelato in Olbia. We were honestly amazed. This place is everything you’d want from a gelateria and more.

We arrived quite late in the evening, and luckily, it wasn’t too crowded. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, and the staff? Absolutely wonderful — some of the friendliest we’ve ever encountered. Warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do.

We tried four different cups of gelato and every single one of them was delicious. The texture was smooth and velvety, and the flavors were perfectly balanced — rich and authentic without being overly sweet. That was one of the things we appreciated most: unlike many other places where the gelato was just sweet with no real flavor, here you could taste the real ingredients in every spoonful.

The variety they offer is impressive, and honestly, we’d recommend everything on the menu. You can’t go wrong here. Whether you’re a classic vanilla-and-chocolate fan or into more creative flavors, Vili delivers on every front.
