When you enter you’re transported into a time where the meals were thoughtful and the conversation flowed as easily as the wine. The restaurant is warm, rustic, vibrant and whimsical. I knew upon entering that we’d be taken care of by the staff. We had the 6 course tasting menu (di mare e di terra) and it was out of this world. I toured across Positano, Piemonte, Lake Como, and Capri but nothing topped my first night in Ostuni at Trattoria Fave e Fogghje. My partner and I both lived in New York City together and enjoy restaurants around the world that harmonize local flavors and ingredients. Trattoria Fave e Fogghje is that kind of place. Every course was unique and balanced. You experienced the right amount of fat, acid, salt and fire across unique and local flavors. The staff was equally memorable. Every time I almost considered the next course throughout my dinner conversation, a new course appeared in a timely fashion. They somehow timed the dishes and service perfectly. It’s really an art. The wine and service was just as thoughtful as the food. Thank you for a...
Read moreIt was a really hard time to get a good dinner place in ostuni without reservation, everything was fully booked, and this was the third place I found, which had finally a free table. The food was actually pretty good, even though the portions were quite small but the price was moderate so it was okay. But: when I got inside, they told me that everyone had at least to offer a starter and a main course, which somehow left a bad impression. Then again I was completely ignored by the waitress who took the orders, and after finally turning to me, the food came super slow and the temperature in the garden was really high, so it wasn’t a pleasant stay at all. In the end they forgot to bring me the bill which I asked for 20 min earlier. The next time better make a reservation in the restaurant you want to go than...
Read moreThis spot is one of the most Instagrammable restaurants in Ostuni, but the nice surprise is that the food actually lives up to the setting. The cooking leans toward homestyle, but every dish comes with its own little twist. We ordered a wide spread to try as much as possible: frisa with burrata, fave & fogghje, and melanzane to start, followed by spaghettoni with potatoes and mussels, orecchiette with cime di rapa, and a lasagnetta pugliese. The melanzane won us over as the best starter, while the spaghettoni with potatoes and mussels stole the show among the mains, hearty and full of flavor. The only downside? There’s a minimum order of one starter and one main per person, which feels like a lot if you’re not super hungry. So maybe save this place for when you’ve really worked up...
