Cantinetta Enoteca — Restaurant in Palermo

After a small disappointment, they were not open on the Sunday we planned to go there, we went the Monday again. Always give a second change. We were greeted by Benni the owner of the great place which is a wine bar with appetizers and some main courses, what a combination. It's Sicilian food 2.0. We ordered slowly cooked Iberian pork cheek on a bed of pineapple, puree and cucumber, a fish and chips level up and fettucini with pumpkin sauce and fennel salami. We asked Benni which wines to pair with the food. He came up with 4 choices and explained all of them. Which choice we would make we couldn't go wrong. All people in the enoteca were Italian so it must be good as all tables were occupied. All the walls of the enoteca are partially covered with wooden wine boxes with bottles in them. My wife and I had an amazing dinner tonight at Cantinetta Enoteca on our last night in Mondello (wish we would have found you sooner in our 4 nights in Mondello, we would have eaten there multiple times). We each had a glass of wine recommended by the owner/sommelier and it was great! The food is delicious. We had the Capreses di Gambero, Bruschetta Pesce, Tartare Fassona, Bruschetta Terra, Arancinetta a Carne and a chocolate cake for dessert. All plates are tapas sized, so easy to try many dishes! Lovely. This is the wine bar opposite their restaurant, which unfortunately was closed today. Really loved the small tapas they serve, all of them of excellent quality. They have a nice selection with some amazing tapas — the tartare of the beef and red fin tuna were great, and so was the beef filet from the grill.
