La Cantinetta — Restaurant in Palermo

Wow... Amazing fresh ingredients for delicious food. I ordered Salmon cheese cake 🎂, and it was great! Then spaghetti with clams, it was good as expected. Then for dessert, I ordered Panna Cotta, it's cheese with gel texture and strawberry cream on top, and it was stunning!!!

There was 2€ for the table services, the overall price including bottle of water was 43€, it's not the cheapest in Sicily, but Mondello is tourist attraction place, so you can expect such prices. Strongly recommend it ......... Today I went again for the dinner, I ordered rolled Swordfish, and it was amazing with unique taste, everything was exactly as it should be! And for dessert, something new to me called Alypascia!!! Wow, it's made of almond with cream and covered by chocolate 🍫, I really could not imagine how much variety and high quality of food in Sicily and especially in this restaurant!!!

Great. The place has made a name for themselves, easily to be spot by plenty of locals visiting it — and has a lovely wine bar just opposite of the restaurant. The food was excellent, as you’d expect the pasta is fresh made and the toppings of excellent quality. The pesto is the particular version which comes with pistachio — a very interesting mix, resulting in a lovely flavour that fits pasta very well. The other variant we tested came with aubergine flakes, with the base made from keel. I never thought that goes well with pasta, but the result actually was very good. Fatal disappointment. After 40 minutes of soul-crushing waiting, we were served five shrimp — dry, flavorless, and clearly suffering from an identity crisis. And the price? Comparable to a used airplane wing. I guess we paid for the altitude, not the taste.

The waitress didn’t even ask if we liked it — and honestly, I respect that. If I had served that dish, I’d avoid eye contact too.

Then came the second dish — a mysterious mini-portion of “what even is this?” with a taste profile somewhere between cardboard and confusion.

Total cost: €66 — straight to the void. Never. Again. Unless I develop a sudden craving for...
