Nightmare at Poldo: Rude Staff and Mediocre Fare

Staff: The staff at Poldo are shockingly incompetent and downright rude. During our visit, the waiter appeared to be under the influence and was more interested in anything other than taking our order. Communication was a challenge as most of the waiters didn't speak English. Witnessing two waiters engaging in a loud and aggressive argument in front of guests was simply unacceptable. The administrator/hostess displayed the pinnacle of rudeness when confronted about the quality of the food. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, she resorted to arguing and questioning our knowledge of the dishes. Moreover, attempting to photograph the bill for translation was met with unnecessary hostility. Adding insult to injury, items we didn't order were included in the bill.

Food: With the exception of a decent cocktail, bread, and olive oil, the food at Poldo was consistently mediocre. While one diner found the burger acceptable and the French fries crunchy and tasty, these are basic expectations rather than culinary achievements.

Overall, the relatively high rating of Poldo is completely disproportionate to the appalling service they provide. Never have I encountered such hostility towards customers in all my years of traveling...

We came on Friday evening with our two children. The restaurant seemed busy but we got a table even without a reservation. I ordered insalata marinara to share with my husband as a starter and a main course each. All our dishes came out at the same time, no olive oil, no pepper or salt or any other condiments offered with our dishes. I ordered tuna as a main course but received different tuna dish from the menu. On the bill I was charged for the one I actually ordered so not sure where the mistake happened. We were hoping to order more drinks but didn't receive any more service after placing our order so we didn't bother to ask as we were ignored for the whole duration of our meal. The food was excellent and delicious but the lack of service ruined our experience. After asking for our bill twice it was finally delivered by another member of staff who was actually the owner as we learned when we paid. The owner was very lovely and apologetic for our experience and also offered us a small discount.
