Highly recommended beach near Palermo 🇮🇹🌊
I recently visited Spiaggia di Mondello and was absolutely enchanted by its beauty and amenities. This beach is a hidden gem nestled amidst picturesque mountains, providing a stunning backdrop for a day of relaxation. 🌊The beach is sandy and clean, the water is clear blue, making it ideal for swimming and enjoying the serene surroundings. 🍽️One of the highlights of the beach is the array of dining options available nearby. You can find numerous restaurants and cafes, making it easy to grab a bite with out straying far from the beach. The best part? There's an amazing gelato place that serves the most delicious gelato I've ever tasted! 💲Some parts of the beach is free, but for those looking to spend the whole day there, you can borrow two sunbeds and an umbrella for 30 Euros. Note that you need to pay in cash, so come prepared. The only minor drawback is that the sea view is partially obstructed by a fence, but this hardly detracts from the overall experience.
Pro Tips: Bring cash for sunbed and umbrella rentals. 🍦Don't miss out on the gelato! 🏖️Arrive early to secure the best spots. (You can also book sunbeds in advance.) 🚌From Palermo, the easiest and cheapest methods to reach the beach is by bus, which costs only 2,8 Euro. You can buy bus tickets in tabaccheria shops. It takes about an hour...
Read moreWater is turquoise and clear, beautiful view and warm water with movie screen perfect sand. BUT: It is crowded (even in the late season in September bus was so full we were like herings in the can, ticket was 7€/person from Palermo center), you really must pay for the daily ticket on the beach on everysection(tried every each of the different parts, even so it says obligation to pay only until 31 of August, what was ridiculous), and for the sunbeds with umbrella (after 2pm €28, before €35), if you don't want to soak your towels in the water on the very very tiny part of the beach what is for free. For this fee mostly they are rude and they choose the spot for you although you obviously more than capable to sit down and choose. 🤣 Sand is smooth and no stones but be carefull with cigarette buds (everywhere), more scammers in every two seconds than in other beach(eiter beachtowels, hats or beach accessories or massages, or coconuts etc..) For a nicer food you have to walk back all the way to the bus stop where they offer nice drinks and street food (ancarani), strongly suggested cause one of them fill you up...
Read moreI don't understand the hatred towards this beach..i have been to dozens of different beaches around the world, and it is WAY cleaner than I expected (especially after seeing Palermo city center). Yes, there is some algae - but so is everywhere else in the world. It does NOT float in lumps and does NOT make you feel eegy while swimming.
Food is cheaper than in the center of Palermo. No quality difference whatsoever.
The price is very reasonable - 30 euro for the whole day, 16 after 2 pm (and it is for two ppl!). To that, no random people walking around the territory. If you happen to forget something on the territory, the beach attendants keep it in the lockers until the next day.
The lifeguards are always on duty till 7 pm, they even monitor the safety from the boat.
You can rent a catamaran for 15 euros per hour too.
Only fishy thing is the cash that you give for the orange bands. We didn't have any cash so we had to carry the receipt with us to leave the beach territory (to go buy food) and come back. But we saw some people getting their 2 euros back after...
