'59 Restaurant & Bistrò — Restaurant in Pesaro

We really had a terrible experience. Allthough the place is very nice and the service very good the food disapointed us greatly!! The wine list is smart and well priced. The food is unbelievable bad!! We had two fish entrees and three diferent pastas. Really tastless food with mediocre ingredintes that you very rarely get in Italy even in places that cost one fifth of the price!! The amusse bouche had an avocado (with salmon in the middle of the adriatic sea off all things!!) that was hard as an apple. Then a very bland ricciola raw like a "tiradito" with no taste at all and and octopus that was the best of the starters. After that a fish ravioli with a lemon butter sauce that were at best mediocre. We had to go for more (could not belive the reviews!!) and ordered the potato mussel filled pasta which remineded me of plane food and a pigeon ragu that was the worst ragu I've tryed anywhere in Italy! Tappa obbligata per i buongustai amanti del lusso accessibile, il '59 Restaurant Excelsior di Pesaro (precedentemente Lido) è un locale che mira ad essere raffinato ed elegante. Le intenzioni sono buone, purtroppo non mancano sbavature sia in tema di servizio, buono ma migliorabile, sia per quanto riguarda le proposte culinarie. Premettendo che il mangiare è ottimo ed i prodotti utilizzati sono al top di gamma, da un ristorante (per quanto estivo) che fa riferimento all'Excelsior si ha il diritto di aspettarsi molto di più. Un esempio minimo sono le molte saliere che non funzionano, il cestino dei condimenti con la bottiglia con l'olio terminato od il pane che va richiesto intercettando un cameriere. Il personale di servizio in alcuni casi appare non completamente formato, in altri è semplicemente perfetto nel rapporto con la clientela. Un'altra cosa da segnalare è la girandola degli Chef che sembrano succedersi a ripetizione, con il risultato che il cambio di mano si nota subito, perché si riflette nell'offerta gastronomica che quest'anno appare molto meno interessante rispetto al passato. Vi sono due menù distinti, uno per il pranzo ed uno per la sera, ma in nessuno ho notato un piatto capace di stupire. Sto cercando il pelo nell'uovo, lo ho anticipato considerando lo standing del locale, ma questo non deve produrre dubbi in chi legge questa recensione, è un locale dove si mangia con soddisfazione e per questo lo consiglio. Delicious cuisine and excellent service. We were a bit thrown off by the fact they turned out to have a fixed menu for the Valentine's day - the restaurant sort of assumed we must have known it all along (we didn't). :) It was nevertheless a lovely selection, and very reasonably priced at that. So, definitely a 5-star experience anyhow....
