Osteria La Trappola — Restaurant in Piacenza

i was recommended this place from a friend, and it did not disappoint. i came for lunch on a quiet thursday, and the atmosphere was nothing short of charming, it was like stepping into a cozy countryside home, complete with a fireplace and thoughtful decor. the service was impeccable, the server was not only warm and welcoming but also brought us some incredible bread and lard to start.

we began with a selection of cold cuts, all top quality, which paired beautifully with the warm, fluffy focaccia. choosing a first course was nearly impossible because everything sounded fantastic, but i finally settled on the tagliatelle with gorgonzola and radicchio. it was so tasty, the pasta cooked just right and the sauce irresistibly creamy and flavorful. my grandpa went for the pisarei e fasò and was thoroughly impressed. he then ordered the liver with onions (which, of course, i had to steal a few bites of) tender, rich, and packed with flavor. i wasn’t hungry enough for a second so i just got some peperonata, also very good and saucy.

dessert was just as impressive. everything tasted incredibly fresh, but the zabaione was the best thing. silky, indulgent, and exactly the kind of sweet ending you want to a meal like this.

Osteria La Trappola, nel senso che rischi di rimanerci intrappolato per sempre da quanto è buona! Appena entrate, siamo state accolte dagli interni calorosi che sanno proprio di casa. Sono contenta di aver avuto la possibilità di sedermi vicino al caminetto, perché pur avendo fatto caldo già nel primo pomeriggio, il riscaldamento era talmente delicato da non aver provocato alcun fastidio; anzi, ha conciliato ancora di più e reso maggiormente intima l'atmosfera rustica e familiare del locale. Che posso dire del pranzo, se non che l'ho vissuta come un'ulteriore coccola in quella serena atmosfera, insieme alla ben selezionata musica jazz? L'antipasto di salumi misti non soffre della mancanza dello gnocco fritto, totalmente riempita sia dal pane fresco che dalle focaccine. A proposito di queste ho solo una nota negativa da porre: essendo quattro e abbastanza piccole, secondo il mio modesto parere farle pagare 4€ è un po' esagerato. Ma a parte ciò, è filato tutto liscio. Anche la pasta era stellare: al dente com'è giusto che sia e dai condimenti divini. Arrivate al dessert, ero particolarmente curiosa di scoprire i dolci della casa, e non ne sono rimasta affatto delusa: la zuppa inglese era praticamente identica a quella di mia madre, a dimostrazione ulteriore del fatto che mangiare qui fosse come ristorarsi nel proprio nido famigliare; ottima anche la sbrisolona, insieme alla ciotola molto capiente di zabaione. Non fosse stato per la grande quantità di questa crema, però, avrei storto il naso nel momento in cui ho scoperto che, da menù, torta e zabaglione fossero separati. È la prima volta che mi capita di doverli pagare a parte nel piacentino, e personalmente non ci trovo un senso logico, ma era tutto talmente buono da farmi completamente dimenticare questa piccola polemica sorta e decaduta in maniera spontanea. Lo staff è stato molto cordiale e attento al nostro tavolo, dettaglio ulteriore che ho apprezzato. Insomma, tra le pareti decorate da quadri stupendi e mobili d'epoca, insieme alla ottima esperienza culinaria, non posso proprio non dare il voto massimo a questa osteria nel cuore di Piacenza. I came to Piacenza as a tourist. My husband and I chose this place for dinner, and it was the best choice we've ever made. Besides the wonderful, homely service from the waitresses, we also tried some truly amazing dishes. I ordered "anolini in brodo" as a first course, and it was simple and delicious. For the second course, I had "lingua," and the meat simply melted in my mouth. What was surprising was the large selection of desserts (it's a shame we couldn't try them all). We'll definitely come back if we're in this city again! Grazie...
