Il Ristoro della Pe' — Restaurant in Pisa

We found this place based on google reviews and got interested as we wanted some simple good food. Unfortunately our expectations weren’t met. When we arrived - restaurant was full. My husband spoke to the waitress and politely asked if we can leave our number and in case they get table in next hour - we would quickly come as we would be nearby. She refused. She said if we want - we can call them and check if they have available tables. So you expect us to call you every 10-15 mins and checking on table availability? Ridiculous. Not customer oriented at all. When my husband asked her why she cant give us a call - her reply was “what if i forget? Then you will give me bad review”. When the waitress spoke to my husband, she looked irritated with our request. And the last thing which is totally not acceptable - when my husband was exiting through the entrance, i saw the waitress looking in his direction and “commenting”. I couldn’t hear what she was saying, but, well, her face was expressing everything so it was more than enough to get the idea. Its a shame, because i do believe your place has great food. But one staff member literally made us feel not welcomed at all. This is the first bad review that i have to write after spending a week in Italy. Everywhere else we went we always felt welcomed (even in the busiest restaurants). What happened in your place - is a mystery to...

I wish I could say that I enjoyed the food, but after tiring day visiting Pisa and, especially, waiting for this particular place to reopen at 19:00, me with my friends came 10 minutes earlier and were told that we have to wait for openning hours. We were fine with this. When we came back again waiter told us that chef is late and we are not allowed to sit and wait because floor inside is not dry yet. After walking on the street for another half an hour trying to find good place, finally, to have some nice authentic Italian food I so was looking for to have during my visit to Italy, we came back in hope that now place is ready to serve customers. It was empty with only one couple sitting at the table, waiter rudely told us that we can have a food in one hour via booking, what was not even mentioned other 2 times we were there. This place showed itself as being extremely unprofessional with staff members not completing basic tasks as cleaning in time before openning hours, chef not being in time and finally, complete lack of hospitality. I have to admit, that this was one of the worst restuarant...

This is genuinely one the best restaurants I have ever been to! Just a step away from the tourist traps around the tower, and get a true taste of Tuscany.

My partner and I chose to visit one evening and couldn't get a table as they were full till close. The owner was rushing around to make everyones evening perfect, but they still had time to stop and speak to us and we made a reservation for the next day.

When we arrived for our reservation, we were seated outside on a warm evening and had one of the most amazing meals we've ever had.

We started with the smoked burrata salad to start was to die for The gnocchi siciliana, and the local fish were perfect. I don't exaggerate when I say, this was the best meal we'd had on our Italy summer trip.

If you are looking for authentic home cooked Italian food, do not go any further.

Make sure to book to avoid disappointment, this is one not to miss when you are in Pisa.
