Trattoria La Tortuga — Restaurant in Pisa

I met the owner, Giovanni, a few years ago by simply walking in one of the times I was in Pisa, and asking for a very exceptional booking service (it was my parents' 40th anniversary). He was astonishing, met every single one of their quirks, followed up with me on Whatsapp even when I left Italy, and ensured they had an exceptional experience. I've been addicted ever since! I come back twice a year, and bring friends, some with dogs (welcome here!) some without, some smokers (great backyard for that!) some not, some drinkers (incredible wines) and some not. We all have an incredible time. Pisa, alas, isn't known for customer service in general, but this place stands out a mile. They're super friendly, super professional, always there yet invisible, and they're fast. The food is fresh as in caught on the day, and cooked very simply, which is a rarity, but by a great chef indeed. You cannot go wrong no matter what you choose. I am personally partial to their "fritto" (fried fish and vegetables, but that description doesn't do it justice). Just go there and you'll love...

Don’t walk, RUN! I can’t recommend this place enough! The food was incredible and the staff are so helpful and friendly. I am literally sitting here and writing the review! I can octopus made the way chef prefers it…it was amazing! With local wine, tiramisu and coffee to finish! When I come back to Pisa, I am coming back here! This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten in in ages. The ravioli to start was simple and delicious and really well seasoned. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and the cheesecake for dessert was perfectly balanced. The service was very quick for Italy and really friendly. The price was very reasonable for the quality. I would say this is a must visit place if you like simple and tasty seafood. I will visit again if I'm in Pisa...
