Top notch restaurant. We came to this restaurant rather late at 10 pm. I did not dare to have high expectations after a few previous disappointments in other restaurants in Pompei. But oh boy, I could not be more wrong. It was absolutely splendid and that for very reasonable, slightly above average prices! A team who take pride in what they do, put their heart in it. I asked the waiter to suggest me. He suggested me an excellent, lightly sparkling, local white wine. We really had an excellent souté of clams and mussels. I frequently eat mussels, but never had them so tasty, so perfectly cooked. Also the gambero e mozarella was amazingly good. Presentation was nice and the taste even better. We also had the Linguine for my wife and the ravioli for me. We had also both taken the suggestion for the fresh sea bass. The waiter fileted the fish in front of our very eyes. Again cooked to perfection. In the end we were both so full that we wanted to skip dessert. The waiter suggested us the pastiera napoletana which is traditional for the region around easter, so we shared a piece. Absolute heaven! Never experienced something so savoury and delicious as a dessert. Sadly enough we could not come back anymore as this was our last night in Pompei after having visited Naples and Amalfi as well. We still tried a pastiera napoletana in Ercolano as well on our way to the airport. Huge disappointment as it was far too sweet which made it unedible. Please visit this restaurant, you will not regret it! Just once in a while you bump onto a gem like this restaurant. Price-quality I even underrate this restaurant giving...
Read moreWhat a place! We were looking for a place to have a quick dinner as we arrived in Pompei after an 11 hour drive. We could choose where we wanted to sit and immediately were given a prosecco 'on the house'. The menu looked very promising with a good variety of local real italian dishes. The menu was explained very well by our waiter Giovanni (as we later found out his name is). As my body does not deal well with cheese, I let him know and (although not eating cheese can be considered a national crime in Italy), he immediately noted that for the kitchen and was remembered later with my desert (without me asking! Very attentitive!). The food was simply incredible! Ready for a michelin-star good!! We wanted a red wine, but we are no experts, so left the choice of the wine to Giovanni. Hd brought us a bottle and we were simply amazed by the taste. Just perfect! The ambience of the restaurant is very welcoming and the service is extremely attentitive. We really felt at home and in the end, spent 3 incredible hours there. With the bill came the next surprise. 3 courses and a very goodbottle of wine for 2 and not even paying 150 Euro!! Gourmet-food with those prices, wow!!!! This is our to-go restaurant for the rest of our stay in Pompei. The menu is big enough!!! Thanks, great team of Garum and especially to...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Garum restaurant, accompanied by my aunt who traveled from the USA, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, Giovanni greeted us with warmth and genuine hospitality, making us feel instantly welcomed. His attentive and friendly service set the tone for what was to be a remarkable evening. We indulged in the grilled sea bream and red shrimps, and both dishes were truly exceptional. The flavors were exquisite, with the seafood cooked to perfection, offering a taste that was out of this world. The chef's mastery was evident in every bite, and we couldn't help but express our admiration – chapeau to the chef! Garum provided not just a meal, but an experience that will be remembered and repeated for sure. For anyone visiting Pompei, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. The combination of outstanding cuisine and top-notch service makes it a standout destination. Highly...
