This dining experience was utterly ruined by the appalling service. Admittedly we did not book in advance so we had a table outside, right at the end of the row. However we gladly accepted this. We then had bread and water delivered to the table. We then had to ask for menus, then ask for drinks before waiting a further 35 minutes before anyone came to take our order. The wine list was 34 pages on an iPad plonked in front of us! We ordered a bottle of Rose and a glass of red wine, which arrived in about 10 minutes. The wine was opened with due ceremony,( including sniffing the wine cork) and poured into three of our glasses. Despite having purchased the bottle it was taken away by the waiter. My wife then pursued the waiter into the restaurant to inform him we had purchased the bottle so could we please have it back at the table. Food arrived, which to be fair was good. I asked for another glass of red wine - 10 minutes later it hadn’t arrived so we asked again. Another 10 minutes, it still hadn’t arrived. When it did I had finished my meal, so I sent it away. The whole episode was largely down to the incompetence of a new member of staff, but nevertheless one has to question the level of training this person has received and how well they are supervised. This restaurant purports to be more upmarket and towards the fine dining end of things - it needs to ensure its staff are of equally...
Read moreWe’ve been in Italy for two weeks. This restaurant served us the best meal we’ve had in those two weeks. It ranks within the hallowed listings of best meals ever. Our waiter was so patient and so kind trying to explain fish preparations to us, all the while feeling badly that his English wasn’t good enough for us dumb Americans trying to understand preparations foreign to us. One thing to understand in some of the higher end restaurants in Italy is that you will pay for protein by the hG, or per hundred grams. So we saw fish prices on the menu of 4 Euros/ hG. This allows a fair price for a fish dish as the fish vary in size, as do steaks. Service was spectacular and well coordinated between all the hands on board. They made us feel welcome and our gluten free necessities a small thing. A desert dish of sweetened ricotta cheese in decorative form was delicious. Our waiter even changed the topping from a coffee taste to a chocolate one so as to diminish the caffeine eaten so close to bedtime. Then, just for good measure, he delivered the same dessert in mini form topped with fruit syrup. They were, all three, amazing and worth every calorie. If you want a wonderful dinner, food, ambiance, service, and friendliness, come here. La Bettola Del Gusto will...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing. We went on the recommendation of our hostess who made the reservation for us. We said we wanted to go to a local restaurant. One that she likes. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful mix of current style and old world charm. We were sat and immediately pour a glass of sparkling wine. Our waiter came and offered us a special started and second courses which we ordered. Then the wine list was presented and it is loaded with wines from Campania all very reasonably priced.
In addition to the complementary glass of sparking we were given a plate of bite sized breads, an amuse bouche of tuna croquet with white bean purée, and a pre-dessert of cream-filled beignets.
All of our food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly and our team of servers were very attentive. The only places for improvements are the pasta with tomatoes and crab was a bit difficult to manage with the crab being served in the shell and the servers were too busy to pour our wine when needed.
We dined with two children (6 and 8) and they treated very well.
I highly recommend this place and wish we lived closer so we could enjoy...
