Amazing quality at this modern Pompeii restaurant. First of all the setting is more of a wide home dining area with bookshelves and comfortable leather sofas. I must say that when you are given a table bag holder as a lady, the restaurant is already starting on a high note for me. Such attentiveness is scarce these days. Food wise I was really enthusiastic for my grano arso starter with raw tuna and guacamole followed by a fresh squid and prawns zuppetta. Chef makes everything in-house and it shows, the flour 1 grade bread was exceptional. Service was also of a high standard, kind and attentive, present but not overpowering. Certainly a place to visit again! Highly recommended

Great dinner, but expected a bit more for a recognized restaurant in the Michelin Guide. We reserved via The Fork and were offered 20% discount, which never hurts. Upon arrival it seemed this was only valid for a la carte, but that’s what we wanted anyway. Dishes were nice, although mains were a bit too salty. The waiter was a bit direct for our liking, and acted very weird at the end. Upon presenting the tip, he got very awkward. He didn’t thank us, and was busy trying to hide the tip from his colleagues. I guess he was not planning on sharing anything… well, his karma, but from my perspective this ruins the experience.

The dining experience was exceptional from start to finish. The warm welcome set a positive tone, and the meal itself was a delightful journey of flavors. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, demonstrating a high level of culinary artistry. The wine selection complemented the food perfectly, enhancing the overall experience. The staff member who recommended the courses and wines showed impressive expertise, making the evening even more enjoyable. Overall, this restaurant comes highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable dinner experience.

We had a very sad and unfortunate experience at Il Principe. We were seated and asked for still water, but it didn’t arrive until half way through the meal after we asked several times for it. We were then served the wrong food. My brother (who is a Hindu and cannot eat beef) ordered the amberjack but was given veal (but told its fish) and had a bite. He alerted the MD that this is not fish and the MD said have it for free, despite us making it clear we do not eat beef. Furthermore the pasta was almost raw and we had to send it back twice asking it to be not al dente. We also spoke to a couple sat near us and they also thought the same thing about the pasta. At the time of the bill, the MD billed us for the wrong items and kicked up a fuss infront of all the customers. In fact some other customers who were also from London came to us to apologise and see if we were ok because it was very inappropriate. Finally before any of the food even came, I asked which white wine he would recommend (with the online list on my phone infront of both our eyes). He walked away and just didn’t say anything until we had to press him for a recommendation. I have never been so disappointed. This restaurant is not deserving of a Michelin...

It started off as a good experience - the amuse bouche and the first course set up our expectations for a good meal ahead. But that unfortunately was not what followed. The next course was octopus. And mine was over cooked. Very over cooked and rubbery and when I pointed it out to our server he came back with a message from the managing staff that it's fresh octopus and hence the texture and so I should have it I guess with appreciation. To be fair the courses that followed were decent but when over cooked octopus gets passed off as me not knowing what is good and the chef doesn't do anything to correct the situation but happily collets our money and sends us off, I have to say you may have taken our money but you don't have our respect.

In response to your response - no one offered us a second plate. Nothing that has the consistency of rubber can be served to be eaten - fresh or not. Texture is one of the big components of a gastronomic experience - the knife you offered to eat the course with kept sliding off the octopus! My star review is commentary on the food + your opinion of what is fine...
