We went there twice. On the first evening, we tried our luck without reservation and were promptly seated by friendly staff and spent a lovely evening with even more amazing food. Everything was splendid and we made a reservation for the following night. A big mistake.
It was a rainy evening and the manager left us waiting for 45 minutes without even acknowledging us. We were completely ignored, and sometimes the manager would shout in Italian but not once give us an update or even recognize us. After eventually having been seated, our waiter first started to take orders from the Italian table next to us while we've been sitting at a dirty table for almost twenty minutes. He threw the menu at our table. We ordered sodas and two items from the menu. When we ordered in English, he interrupted us - "aah, English? Wait.." and left. He proceeded to take our order in the most bored and disrespectful way, trying hard to tell us how much he hated us and his job and that we're at fault for not knowing Italian. A few minutes later and he literally slamms our drinks on the table, not saying a word. We eventually got our food and it was as amazing as it was on the first night, but the despicable manner in which this guy acted the whole night left a bitter sweet taste in our plates.
Not once did the manager apologize for or even acknowledge the delay. The guy who served us was an absolute disgrace who really made sure we felt like second-class citizens and spent much of the night checking his phone rather than taking care of the guests.
The restaurant and its food are amazing, but some of the staff made especially sure we're never going back. Talking to other guests revealed that they had received the same disrespectful treatment - at least we knew we were not alone. 0/10 would recommend. Stay away...
Read moreA superb restaurant! Beautiful food, beautifully prepared, and served by a gracious, friendly, helpful staff. We ate there twice during our recent three day break on Elba (we live on the mainland) and every dish we ate was notable for a perfect balance of flavours; rich yet light and bursting with freshness. The linguine with bottarga; the ravioli filled with fresh wild herbs; the stew of cod, tomatoes, olives and capers; the asparagus soup; the marinated anchovies; the pork roasted in milk; the most delicious pannacotta I've ever had, with a coulis of fresh strawberries; the lemon pavlova; and the wonderful house wine (and they have a great wine list), have left a lasting impression. I can't wait to return to try everything else on their mouthwatering and varied menu. We've lived in Italy for the past 15 years and have had some great meals all over the country. The Teatro Bistro & Wine Bar is right up there at the top of the list. ...
Read moreThe terrace of this restaurant is perfectly located on the hill of Portoferraio on a big quare which is surrounded by trees. Under trees and open sky are all tables arranged in the way that almost all may overlook the bay. During night one may enjoy the lights of the bay and the stars ✨ above. A special warm atmosphere is present due to all the guests that enjoy this place. The restaurant offers a simple dishes but quality dishes. If you look for a typical Elba style restaurant with a simple not too expensive menu card, this is definitely the place. The staff is extremely friendly, although they are very busy during the peak times. The dishes are good and typical. I have loved the place as it will was uphill offering a fresh breeze, a wonderful view on a open sky terrace. The food was accordingly to place. It definitely deserves my recommendation. It is pet friendly...
