Abraxas Osteria — Restaurant in Pozzuoli

First off let me start by saying I never write reviews. My wife and I came to this restaurant hoping for good atmosphere and amazing food. However when we arrived the place was empty and we were told only one table was available due to reservations. We said that's ok we'll take it bad idea it was right next to the staircase which was very cold and drafty. The waiter that sat us also very rudely slapped the menu down in front of us and walked away, mind you the menu was in Italian and we do not read nor speak Italian. No big deal that's what google translate is for right, after about 25 minutes he came back to see if we were ready. My wife ordered some wine he quickly said no we are out of that so she tried again this time flipping through the wine menu to find a good red wine. The waiter impatiently asked what kind my wife said red and he roughly stopped her from turning the pages and told her right here page five. So it began once again this wine no were out ok how about this wine that's fine you want two yes please. Now onto the food my wife ordered a steak cooked medium with a salad no problem. Now my turn, so in the beginning of the menu there are two different meals called traditional and bistro they consisted of an appetizer first and second course then finally dessert all of which you can pick from three to four dishes, can you tell I was excited. We'll surprise surprise I couldn't get this due to the fact that the whole damn table had to order the same thing, seriously first off there was no disclaimer what if I left my wife at home and it was just me could I order the traditional meal then, probably not. Sorry I'm getting a little off topic, so I order a steak as well with a salad. By now our wine and bread basket arrived the wine was delicious and well bread is always good, several minutes go by and finally the food is here so we dig in my wife cuts into her steak and I swear it screams it's so rare. We politely ask the waiter to bring it back and cook it a little longer the discuss in his eyes says it all but he takes it anyway, my steak was cook medium rare but I don't mind. So all in all the restaurant has some beautiful views if your seated by those views the food isn't bad could have been better and the waitstaff was horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place to...

Sono finalmente riuscita a mangiare in questo delizioso ristorantino. Dopo tre volte in cui era tutto pieno, con circa 3 settimane di anticipo ho prenotato un tavolo per una domenica a pranzo per festeggiare un compleanno di famiglia. L'atmosfera è molto accogliente, meglio il primo piano e i posti esterni (ma in quanto inverno non disponibili al momento), il piano terra è un pò buio per i miei gusti; curato nei dettagli (la tavola è apparecchiata deliziosamente), il servizio molto attento e presente, cibo ottimo e finemente curato, attenzione per le pietanza rivolte ai bimbi, vino delizioso di ottima qualità, come la bottiglia che ha accompagnato la nostra torta di compleanno! Dal punto di vista culinario niente da ridire! Parcheggio in loco, custodito da un signore garbatissimo. Ma dal mio punto di vista c'è una nota dolente, che non mi ha consentito le 5 stelle per la recensione, una cosa sulla quale non transigo. Per tre volte non ho potuto prenotare perché tutto pieno, così mi è stato detto a telefono: "non accettiamo più prenotazioni tutto pieno" (avevo chiamato con circa una settimana di anticipo) e fin qui ci sta, più che giusto! Quindi se un ristorante adotta questa politica, riempie i tavoli e chi è fuori è fuori, così pensavo. Ci sta che è domenica, ma proprio perchè è domenica e soprattutto festeggiavamo un compleanno, voglio il tavolo per me, mangiare con calma, goderci la domenica e la ricorrenza. Questo è stato possibile fino ad un certo punto, poi è stato instaurato un clima sempre più di fretta, tre camerieri in contemporanea al nostro tavolo, a mia sorella è stato tolto il calice di vino a momenti dalle mani: come lei prontamente ha fatto notare stava ancora bevendo, solo per fare un esempio. Tutto questo perché come ho potuto notare andando in bagno, all'ingresso c'erano persone ad aspettare in fila per mangiare. Mi domando: allora perché per tre volte a me è stato detto che era tutto pieno, non si accettano più prenotazioni e poi la fila fuori che preme su di me e sul mio tavolo prenotato (come me a questo punto credo anche su gli altri tavoli prenotati). All'improvviso ho avuto la sensazione che mi tirassero la sedia da sotto. Posso capire che è domenica, posso capire che dovete guadagnare, ma l'ho trovato proprio brutto, di cattivo gusto e senza riguardo per il cliente (gli sguardi dei camerieri erano eloquenti: badate non stavamo mantenendo il tavolo una volta finito di mangiare, così inutilmente, stavamo finendo di bere, aprire la torta, il caffè ci è stato servito in fretta e furia, il bimbo voleva un dolce al cioccolato che volevamo ordinare, ma non lo abbiamo fatto perché praticamente ci stavano cacciando). Se delle persone si presentano senza prenotazione, bisognerebbe far presente che c'è da aspettare parecchio perché il locale è pieno e avere così rispetto per chi ha prenotato con così largo anticipo! Le buone maniere sono tutto, soprattutto per chi ha un'attività di questo genere. Ritornerò per capire se in settimana (ad esempio il venerdì) la situazione è la stessa, per il cibo e l'atmosfera ne...

Perhaps the best restaurant I’ve had the pleasure to try in Naples yet!

I found this on the Michelin guide and then checked it here on Google maps/reviews and decided to celebrate the 4th of July with my family here.

The place is wonderful, perched on the ridge between two lakes with wonderful views in both directions! The atmosphere is very tropical especially with the lush vegetation, open air dining and island jazz music.

The food was excellent! Beyond compare, particularly at these prices… very good value for money. Even the wine was fantastic at 5€ a glass. And that was for my favorite: aglianico del vulture from Basilicata, Wow!

See the pictures… we tried the antipasto and they were a hit! The beat dish may have been my son’s pasta Genovese but all dishes were delicious!

Then we tried a range of desserts from the 4 sample plate to the deconstructed lemon tart to my crunchy hazelnut semifreddo - all wonderfully prepared and tasty!

We will certainly return!!...
