Cosmo Ristorante Bar — Restaurant in Pustertal - Val Pusteria

It started well… we’ve been here 3 years ago and had an amazing experience so booked the hotel and reserved a table here. Starters and service were good and since we love good food (and are willing to pay for it) we went for the steak for 2 which comes at 85(!!) euros … starters came and we were happy to see the quality was still good ! Then the main course came and everything fell apart .. the medium rare request turned up after way too much time in the blistering heat and every single taste was cooked, baked and seared out of the meat … what a waste of good food and our appetite .. when we mentioned this to the waitress she was very apologetic and friendly, she was happy we mentioned it and would go to the kitchen to tell the chef .. after coming back with replacement options (we declined since we lost our appetites) she remained friendly and very kind. Wasn’t her fault and the fact she owned up to it was good to see. Not so good to see was the manager and the chef who didn’t feel that serving a wel done piece of meat was worth an apologie or even a word .. very disappointing to see that owning a mistake is left to the friendly staff while the responsible people stay hidden in their kitchen and walking around being busy … the solution by the way was 50% discount on the “50% extra cooking time” steak .. not impressed but that was the solution they felt was the best, next time, come to the table and own your mistakes like managers / responsible people do, we all make mistakes, it’s how we deal with them that defines you as a person, hiding is...

Had a great experience here and booked last minute, they have an upgrade in one of our rooms, the youngs man who served us was great he had some laughs with us and also knew exactly when to check and to not, the food was excellent, fresh tasty hot and flavour packed, we where a group of 4 and all came out together, the wine recommendation for our steaks was perfect, full bodied and very smooth, the staff here was great, very helpful and I wouldn’t judge on previous reviews with this review (judge for yourself and check it out) cocktails where excellent also, just having our coffees as I type and the the fresh orange justice was lovely.

I run bars and restaurants and can say I would be very happy if with my team with the reception that was delivered last night and this morning.

Very strange situation just happened to me there: had my dinner, had some wine, all reasonably good but with high price tag. Was served ok by waitress also helped by manager both in the restaurant and in the hotel where I’m sleeping. But when ordering another wine from different waiter was told with surprisingly aggressive and unpleasant tone that need to move as I am not eating anymore. Having said that, there were free tables around. Anyway if they needed me to move could politely ask and I would be happy to help. Can’t understand what wanted to achieve with such strong asking out and attitude.. what he will achieve is an opinion in large local neighbour company how their guest was treated.
