As per previous reviews, myself and my friend found ourselves starving after walking around Ostia Antica all afternoon. Concerned we would not find somewhere to eat we walked around the old town looking for somewhere that was open at 6pm. Serendipity pushed us into the wonderful world of Marta's L'Alimentari. What a find! Marta and Carlo were simply wonderful. Knowledgeable about food and passionate about superb hospitality. Genuinely, this was one of the best nights out I have ever had in Italy. Marta and Carlo gave us a platter( photo below) of the best of their deli counter washed down with a lovely Frascati red wine. Yum yum Later we had dessert and liquori from Sardengna. It was the best food we had on our trip to Rome. We stayed all evening singing Karaoke with the locals, an awesome night out that I will never forget! Additionally, the staff and customers were delightful, caring and generous with their time and help, as a train strike meant we could not get back to Rome. Marta organized the taxi for us with the local driver Massimo and we were back home in half an hour.
What a beautiful experience. Just how a holiday should...
Read moreWe ordered a medium-plus steak, but were served a thin slice of undercooked meat with a lot of fat. The head waiter ignored our complaint and insisted that the steak was fine. He charged us the full price despite our dissatisfaction with the meal. Additionally, the restaurant also charged us for bread that we neither ordered nor ate.
After posting this review, the owner responded with: '"Good evening, I am the owner of the restaurant Masina Pala and the attitude of the waiter that was in service was inappropriate I am very sorry for all the mistakes! I can just offer, if still possible for you, to come back to my restaurant as special guests and also to refund you all the money. Hope to hear back from you soon"'
I messaged L'Alimentari and Masina Pala on Facebook, but received no response.
I strongly do not recommend...
Read moreCame here on a hot day to find something quick to eat. At first it was nice, prices were okay although a bit high, service brought ice, water and bread. Three of us ordered the vegan panini (and a 4 different one). After a very long wait (approx. 30 minutes) they brought us three veggie paninis, when we asked they confirmed it was the vegan one. When we paid, the receipt confirmed it was the veggie one (as you can see in the foto). They also charged us for the bread we never asked for and didn't know it would be charged. They also charged service for five people, not four. When we confronted them about the paninis, the guy was very rude and refused to do anything about it. The food was okay, but definitely not...
