New Town — Restaurant in Rome

On a Sunday evening we were looking for a break from Italian cuisine. For the few days we are in Rome it seems Sunday evening is not so popular for dining out; many places were closed already and those that were open had few diners. We found NEW TOWN via Google Maps search and it is a WINNER! Don't be intimidated by the posh, contemporary interior or the super-cool high tech ordering system. The prices are the most reasonable we have found for really tasty good food in a sit down eatery. From a sampling of seven different menu items, each was impressive in presentation and flavor. Ordering on the ipads that are set at each table is easy and intuitive. Choose a food category and the choices appear. Touch an item for a description of the food. Add the selection to your cart if you want it, and soon after you 'send' the order, the food begins arriving at your table. You can continue to order items at any time and it is just added to the final bill at the end of your meal. not a big fan. went to this restaurant twice and was disappointed from both times.

first of all, they put on way TOO MUCH MSG. that’s basically what it makes their food “tasty”. as a person who grew up eating oriental cuisine, this is just not it!

I tried their vegetable udon and vegetable soup and both had a really strong msg flavour that basically threw me off. same with their vegetable fried rice!

their utensils and plates also doesn’t seem to be clean enough.

what makes them popular is their location and competitive price which is fairly cheap considering the location.

their service is also pretty much decent! liked how they still give complimentary fortune cookies after you pay.

overall it would be a place I’d go to again if there aren’t any other choices but id rather avoid it as much...

Ho scoperto di amare il Sushi da poco tempo e da quel momento questo ristorante è diventato il mio punto di riferimento! Location tipica dei ristoranti cinesi, offre per l'appunto sia cibo cinese che Sushi giapponese. Si può mangiare sia alla carta che con formula "All You Can Eat" (con la piccola limitazione che la scelta deve essere, per ovvie ragioni, uguale per tutti i commensali) ad un prezzo più che abbordabile in rapporto a quanto si riesce a mangiare. Si può ovviamente mescolare cinese e giapponese senza problemi. Amo molto questo ristorante perché, essendo esso abbastanza "occidentalizzato" e non essendo io un amante del sushi classico con le alghe, qui posso trovare moltissime alternative e opzioni di gustosi piatti senza alga! Particolarmente buona, la frittura di salmone che ha una pastella molto particolare. Per chi soffre di celiachia c'è una discreta scelta tra i piatti e, all'occorrenza, anche la salsa di soia senza glutine. Hanno anche diverse alternative per chi è vegetariano. Il locale e i tavoli sono sempre puliti e ben apparecchiati. Il personale cordiale, educato, gentile e veloce nel servire e nel togliere i piatti vuoti per fare spazio agli altri in arrivo. Divertente il fatto di eseguire gli ordini tramite un tablet, dove ogni pietanza viene ben illustrata con foto ed ingredienti, e con cui si può anche tenere traccia dei piatti consegnati per verificare eventuali (rare) dimenticanze. Unica piccola pecca è la difficolta di parcheggiare la macchina, dato che il ristorante si trova in zona Prati e non ha un parcheggio privato. Inoltre, mi spiace dirlo ma devo necessariamente annotarlo, negli ultimi tempi ho riscontrato un lieve calo nella qualità del pesce. Non che sia cattivo o che mi abbia fatto star male, assolutamente no. Ma che sia un po' meno saporito e con un colorito un po' più "anemico". Frequentando il locale da diversi anni, ho toccato con mano questo piccolo calo di qualità. Nonostante questo, rimane il mio preferito e ci torno ogni volta che posso o che ho...
