Trattoria Zampagna — Restaurant in Rome

Disappointing experience from start to finish. The food was just average—not memorable, but passable. What truly ruined the night was the service. After finishing our meal, we had to ask multiple times for the bill despite the restaurant not being busy. The delay was excessive and unjustified.

When the bill finally arrived, it was nearly double what we expected. One mysterious item inflated the total, and when I questioned the waiter, he started backtracking and claimed the bill wasn't ours—even though everything else matched our order except for that one item. He promised to issue a new bill, but then left us waiting over 15 minutes while strolling around and serving others, seemingly doing nothing to fix the issue.

I eventually had to stand up and request the bill again, which he suddenly managed to produce immediately. The final bill was still overpriced for the quality of food and service. To top it off, he muttered things in Italian under his breath, clearly taking advantage of the fact that we didn't speak the language.

The place itself has this cozy Italian charm that sets the mood just right. Now, let's talk about the food – it's incredible! The pasta is cooked just perfect, and the sauces are so tasty. They really know their way around Italian flavors.

The appetizers are a treat, especially the bruschetta – simple but bursting with flavor. And don't get me started on the pizzas – thin crust and loaded with goodness.

The staff is super friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. And the desserts? Tiramisu to die for!

The food was amazing. Fried artichoke (hearts) were delicious, fiori di zucca and sardines both tasty. We were a large party and everyone was pleased with their food. I had meatballs. They were good; the sauce was even better. The staff was friendly and helpful, fast even. But it was HOT. No ac, just a couple of fans blowing everyone's hair around.
