2nd Best in town

We've been in San Vincenzo before and know this place from other times. So we came back this year and hoped it would still be as good.

And it's still pretty much the same (mostly in a good way). We came on a Monday and the place was fairly well booked. We got a table in the front section (other times we got seated in the back). Our dog was welcome as well.

We had some warm Crostini for a starter. A really good choice. Crostini topped with minced meat, paprika-spread, tomato, artichokes and radicchio. Good to share for two.

For the mains we had the Seafood Spaghetti and Risotto with Porcini and some kind of offal. The Seafood Pasta is still great - still one of the best places to get this meal - and is served in a pan, where they finish preparing it at your table. The Risotto was new to us....interesting combination of mushrooms and some offal and very filling. We had some house wine with that (half liter for 4 Euros!).

The service was nicer this time than at our other visits. Different section, different waitstaff. Was really friendly (to our dog too).

It's a really good restaurant. Our #2 in town (behind "Xke Qua"). Be sure not to miss it, since it's a bit on the northern end of town, but beside a huge parking lot.

Surely would go back. Prices...

We went for a last minute dinner and it was not a good experience at all. The personell pretended not to have a table for 3 at the opening time... when we sat, the restaurant was empty so it was clear there was no table shortage. Pizzas were below average, the dough hard to cut and the mozzarella very sad. We asked to have the pizza sliced for the kids but they say they were too busy to do it... hardly an excuse as there was just another family that had ordered pizza. The inside hall was chilled by AC but with a fishy smell, they denied us the outside area so we were seated in the veranda that was ok. In synthesis the waiters were not welcoming nor smiling, food was low quality and the dead turtle shell did not impressed...

E un anno dopo? Siamo a metà luglio, mercoledì. Ore 20.00 Nonostante la nostra mancanza di prenotazione, un posticino ce lo hanno trovato. Si, sono recidivo e vista la notevole affluenza (forse complice la mia recensione? 😂) forse dovrei cominciare a prenotare ma il problema è la mia allergia alle prenotazioni. Proprio mi rende nervoso. Odio andare nei ristoranti e sentirmi dire che è tutto pieno quando i tavoli sono tutti vuoti. Ma li vuoi lasciare liberi una metà dei tavoli?almeno un terzo! Vabbè ma mum & dad sono un'altra categoria . Sempre gentilissimi, comprensivi e si fanno davvero in 8 per accontentarti. Oggi, spaghettino alle vongole, il mio parametro di giudizio, e trancio di spada in cottura cbt. Vongole ottime anche se una, una sola, aveva un granello di sabbia. È vero che avendo viaggiato tutto il giorno, avevo una fame olimpica ma ne avrei divorati altri 2 piatti. Lo spada... Beh. Impiattamento molto carino e invitante solo che i due tranci, pur essendo molto gustosi, erano a mio avviso un po' troppo cotti e quindi un po' stopposetti. Mi è piaciuto ma devo riprovare. Per me, a parte questo piccolo scivolone, è un ottimo posto dove cenare.

Ci sono tornato a distanza di 2 settimane, a cena. Siamo stati accolti molto gentilmente, senza prenotazione, nonostante la serata fosse tra le più "intense" della stagione a causa della fortissima affluenza di clienti. Da notare che, in altri ristoranti, precedentemente "visitati", siamo stati respinti nonostante l'orario non fosse esattamente scabroso ( 21.00) con motivazioni varie e variopinte tra cui "la cucina chiude alle 21.30 (!!!! Nemmeno fossimo in Svizzera anziché in una rinomata località di mare, in pieno agosto!). Abbiamo aspettato giusto 15 minuti e dopo averci fatto accomodare ad un buon tavolo, all'esterno (meglio, faceva molto caldo quella sera) abbiamo potuto ordinare subito. Tris di alici, presentato bene, gustoso e saporito. Impepata di cozze spettacolare. Spaghetti ai lupini (poi arrivati con molte vongole veraci) molto gustoso e bilanciato, fritto misto con anche le alici non male. Abbiamo speso il giusto. Siamo stati trattati bene, come...
