I recently dined at this fantastic Italian and seafood restaurant, and it truly impressed me with its super affordable prices and incredibly fresh seafood. So far, it’s the best seafood I've had in Italy!
For appetizers, I started with the mussels, which were cooked perfectly in a lemon white wine sauce. They were the freshest mussels I've had in Italy, all big and plump. For the main dishes, I ordered the Linguine Alle Vongole and the Scialatielli Con Frutti Di Mare.
The Linguine Alle Vongole was a simple yet delicious dish, with hints of garlic and olive oil. My only minor complaint was that the clams were quite small, and I wish there were more of them. The dish I was most excited about was the Scialatielli Con Frutti Di Mare. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the marinara sauce was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. My only critique was that I wasn't a huge fan of the pasta choice for this dish.
One thing to note: the service was quite slow. We had to wait a little while between the appetizer and the main course, which was a bit frustrating.
Overall, this is a very good spot, especially for the price, and I would definitely recommend...
Read moreIt's a 4.5, unfortunately I can only give whole stars. The place is outside the touristic mayhem and that's good. It's a nice place in a somewhat sad location but that's not problem. The menu is varied and interesting. I had some raw fish, fish soup and custard pie. The soup was good, maybe the red souce had not absorbed the fish flavour enough for my tastes. The pie was good. The raw fish wasn't bad, absolutely, but while sardines were really really good, shrimps and swordfish good... well, salmon seemed to come from the supermarket. The complimentary bread was absolutely fantastic. I had several incomprehensions with the waiter and it took me a short while to sort out everything but the owner was very comprehensive and accepted my version. I guess the price is OK, taking into account that Santa Margherita isn't a cheap place. (42€, comprehensive 2 beers and a small...
Read moreThis was the best dinner I have had since I was in Italy two years ago. The salciccia on the pizza was breathtaking. I have never tasted sausage quite like it. It had such a pop of fresh, salty and umami flavor. Almost like truffle but not the same taste, but similar quality to the strength of the taste. Absolutely incredible. My wife got the seafood pasta and it was the best she has ever had. Incredibly generous proportions and I was shocked at how cheap it was. They honestly should charge at least 30% more for the quality they are dishing up. I can’t recommend this place...
