Been in town for a few nights. Walked by this place several times and thought it looked good. Always busy as well - a good sign. Menu looked good, easy home-cooking dishes.
Made a reservation for the evening and came here at 8.30pm. Somehow our reservation got lost, but they managed to find us a table anyway. Our Bulldog was welcome as well.
Staff and owner were all very friendly and took care of us well. The place was full that night, but the meals came out quickly.
Ordered a plate of cold meat and cheese and a plate of fried anchovies. The cheese and meat were of nice quality and good sized. Really nice were the anchovies. We liked the way they were prepared, had a similar dish in Calabria a few years ago. Love it.
For the mains we ordered the fried seafood and a the Trofie Genovese. The fried seafood was good, but honestly we've had better before. The pasta on the other hand was very nice. Trofie are a nice kind of pasta, pretty heavy and filling. Great Pesto Genovese.
A Tiramisu for dessert. And that one was very very good. It's easy to find Tiramisu. But hard to find really good ones. And this one here was great.
Had a bottle of red wine with. Matched very well and good priced below 20 Euros. All items were priced very well, a night out here wont' break your budget.
It was a pleasant dinner. Good, honest food. But was it the best food in town during our stay? No. But enjoyable and...
Read moreEarly Saturday evening, about 7pm. The outside seating area was about 1/2 full. We went inside for a seat and The large room full of tables had TWO TABLES BEING USED. Many places to sit and numerous waitstaff standing around doing nothing.
A woman greeted us, we asked for a table for two, and she looked around like she was searching for a table. She said “one moment” and disappeared into the kitchen. We stood there waiting and another woman rushed up to us and again I asked for a table. She got this nasty look on her face and shouted “reservation”, shook her head at us, and walked away. Almost immediately a third woman walked by us, SNEERED at me and said in perfect English... “stupid”. These women were obviously staff/managers wearing uniforms.
The place was empty. Ridiculously BAD customer service. I have no idea if their pizza is any good or not. But i can tell you, NO pizza is good enough to put up with nasty, demeaning waitstaff/management.
There are lots of places to get pizza — go...
Read moreGetting to this area at 6:30om, walking 10 minutes from the beach of Santa Marguerita, and finding our destination restaurant not open until 7:30 pm We came across this pizzeria. Well it was more than that! The lovely covered patio was so cozy and welcoming. I have grown to love Italian beer and the small glass of draft I had was delicious. For starters we shared a dish of fresh calamari and potatoes. I don't know the name of it but the waitress kindly suggested it after another fish appetizer was not suitable as I am allergic to mussels. Next we each had a pizza. Lovely. Mine had tomato, cheese and mushroom. My son had sausage topping. Both very good. I could not finish mine so I took half as take-away to enjoy tomorrow. Lastly my son recognized a cheese he liked and ordered that. (I'm sorry I don't know proper names of these dishes. But the waitress speaks perfect English and would know what you were seeking). Altogether an enjoyable...
