KARJASA — Restaurant in Santu Diadòru/San Teodoro

So I never leave bad reviews, however, and I hope this doesn’t speak for all the waiters here (my beef is with ‘maurio’ specifically.. But as a half Italian (fluent speaking) English person. The service was beyond awful, after being scoffed at for asking for butter with our bread (which they forgot, then was told later to ‘calm down the kitchen was preparing it’) not was I overheard them saying in Italian but anyway.. he then introduced the trio of sea carpaccio as tuna, tuna and shrimp. Once I double checked 2 where tuna, received another scoff and eye-roll, he then corrected ‘my mistake’.. proceeded to talk about how annoying we were in Italian..Ordered the fritto misto, asked for sauce..(how inauthentic of me.. again another eye roll and scoff) was told there was nothing in the whole restaurant but ketchup.. my partner then spoke to the nonchalant manager who seemed to walk off.. after going after him myself, he then did kindly inform me they where trying to make something up in the kitchen. By this point, damage done.. asked for it all to take away.. they then took 20 minutes to do so and, you guessed it more scoffing and eye rolling....

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go to this new restaurant in San Teodoro with my friend. Before talking about the food I have to recognize the view from the terrace (we went at 19.30) we saw a beautiful sunset overlooking the mountains. As food, I want to congratulate the chef because it was one of the best I have ever tasted and as wine we had a local wine called Origina (white) very good. As antipasti we had tacos with tartare and a fume potato (with an amazing smoke show). My friend had a first course that they make only in this restaurant called "pappardella ripiena" simply amazing and I had a second course of filetto di manzo (5 stars). To not expand more I want to summarize my experience as incredible, attention 10/10, waiting time 10/10, place 10/10 (if you can book the terrace I recommend it). I was expecting 5 stars as the reviews were showing. Unfortunately, it was fast from that. Really cold food, probably already prepared and only quickly warmed up as we got it really fast after ordering it. The taste was not amazing and quite bland we could say. The restaurant is not on the main street, actually a bit hidden. The atmosphere would make you think it's quite a posh but because of the food, it makes it only an appearance. I believe you're much better off in one of the restaurants that are a lot busier with food that is prepared the regular way. I prefer a bit of waiting but at least to be fresh. I can't say if the seafood was fresh, it didn't feel like it. Overall, it's far from a 5 star. Look for better places even if they don't...
