My family and I were visiting Stresa for the first time for my sister’s wedding. Her and her fiancé had eaten there the night before we arrived and highly recommend this restaurant. My boyfriend and I came for lunch in the afternoon upon her recommendation. However, we were extremely shocked and disappointed by the way we were treated and the blatantly obvious disrespect we were showed. When we arrived, it was very busy, which was typical for a lunch hour, for which we were very understanding. We walked into the restaurant, requesting a table and inquiring if there was availability. The staff mostly ignored us standing there waiting and made us feel like we were in the way, and it was socially uncomfortable. The woman who eventually seated us was clearly disgruntled and annoyed and was stomping her feet. When she did seat us, we sat there for about 15-20 minutes without our order being taken or even receiving water or anything to drink. Meanwhile the disgruntled woman continued to clean up tables and ignore us completely. Within that same time frame, another couple came in and they were seated right away, and their order was promptly taken. The disrespect was so blatantly obvious that we got up and left. After posting my review I got a reply from the owner which only proves my point about the rudeness. The owner states that it’s my fault not checking the customs of the places I visit. The restaurant should take this constructive review with positivity and take actions for potential improvement.
I stand by my one star review for the service.
My original review:
We were a group of 5 and wanted to enjoy a glass of wine. The restaurant has a lot of tables and at that point there were only two clients sitting at a table outside. We asked if we could have a drink and the answer was literally: “No, this is a restaurant not a bar”. The waiter was extremely rude. Two ours later when we walked by the restaurant again, half of the tables were...
Read moreI wanted to order risotto but it was only for 2 and the price written was for one portion. This left me really disappointed and. I can understand the marketing trick behind writing that it’s for 2 people minimum and leave the price tag for a single portion but as a customer I hated it. I can’t figure out why the minimum is for 2 people though… you can’t calculate a single portion or what ?! The pizza and lasagna we ordered afterwards were nothing special. The dessert and to be more specific the tiramisu was sooo dry and the cream tasted like a normal whipped cream. The most attractive in this restaurant are the sparrows that come...
