I had the opportunity to stay at the Italian Academy, Siracusa for four weeks in August 2021 and i must say that it was for me a great experience. The location of the school is very good as it is very close to a few historic sites. The building itself doesn’t feel at all as a school - it’s actually a villa with different small classes, rooms and facilities, with a beautiful garden and plants and trees around. The stuff is very professional and communicative. The classes always started on time which i appreciated very much. The lessons don’t have a rigid structure which was great for improving conversational skills, even though we had always a part of the lesson dealing with grammar and following exercises. For a week i had Luise and for three weeks Giusi as my teachers. They were both very professional but also very friendly, efficient, supportive and patient. Every week on monday the groups rotate - some students leave, some new students come but it makes it more interesting as you always meet new people. All my groups which i attended were very nice but the last two weeks as “La squadra di Giusi” we had so much fun together! It made it even more pleasant as we had some activities outside of school together. I had an impression that the school was very well organised and it was easy to communicate with the staff regarding any small issues or questions i had during all my stay. I appreciated the quality of everything at the Italian Academy. It was an amazing month and i am considering to come back to improve my Italian even more. I highly recommend...
Read moreWonderful place for adults to learn Italian, away from the main tourist paths, where you can practice daily with locals. The academy provides very small classes - there were 2 of us! - and you truly have the full attention of instructor. Lessons run daily in the morning which leaves afternoons and evenings to explore the town. The accommodation at the "lemon villa" is freshly renovated and includes a serene patio perfect for a glass of vino or a local beer during hot nights in Sicily. The Ortygia Island is a walk away and welcomes you with restaurants, markets, gelaterias, bars, cafés... closely distributed among historical markers (temple of Apollo, Aretusa fountain...) It is very easy to rent a car and make a trip to Mount Etna, nearby perched villages such as Modica or go on day trip visit Corleone, Palermo... School also provides excursions with tour guides to nearby attractions. We participated in a guided tour of Noto, a visit to the Greek amphitheatre and a boat tour which included a dinner and a swim in the middle of the Mediterranean. Would go again in...
Read moreAfter taking a one week intensive Italian course in the academy I can totally recommend it! The stuff was really welcoming and helpful starting already the day I’ve sent my first email asking for the course until my departure from the academy. I’ve took a normal course in the morning and a private class in the afternoon, where I got the chance to learn grammar, vocabulary, do some regarding and listening exercises but mostly talk a lot! Which helped me to get more confident with the Italian language. Moreover, I got to stay with a lovely host family, where I could practice my Italian after class and eat some good italian home cooked meals! During my week there I could also participate in the extra activities organized by the academy. (From which I can totally recommend the cooking class/dinner) And had also some free time to visit the beautiful Siracusa and its surroundings. It was a lovely experience, that I not only recommend, but also hope I can repeat myself...
