Wow, an unexpected discovery while walking the less frequented streets of Ortigia / Siracusa, but this is a real gem! Extremely friendly owners, happy ladies singing while working, and dedicated to offer you the most pleasing experience. As lunch (they also offer amazing healthy breakfast and brunch ) we ordered the bruschette, which were so delicious we ordered them again. We also ordered a mozzarella salad, and although I am not really a great fan of salads, this one was an absolute delight. Each Prosecco was filled nearly up to the limit, needless to say we've ordered more than twice. 🥂 If you like excellent deserts, try the home made chocolate cake with nucciola and cream, you won't regret it. 😋 We'll be back for sure, thank you Irma and team, highly recommended! Update 1st September 2024 : we keep coming back, this time for a Sunday brunch. An ample yoghourt with granola and fresh fruit, great homemade bread, butter and marmelade, cappuccino and a granita caffè (you have to try this tipical sicilian iced drink), all served with a smile and at ridiculously low prices. Thanks ladies! 🙏👍 Highly recommended! 👏👌

This place is an absolute gem! The two young women who run it are charming, friendly, and helpful. I chose the yogurt with fresh fruit and granola and it was exceptional. The fruit (mango, banana, blueberries, kiwi, raspberries, and strawberries was plentiful, ripe, and delicious and the yogurt and granola were equally lovely. My caffé Americano came with hot water so I could adjust the strength. Superb! My husband tried the bread with jam - three kinds - and all good which arrived with more lightly toasted bread than he could eat. We will be coming back here to try lunch in the next days and likely another breakfast or two. The café is set in a small square with a half a dozen or so small tables with large umbrellas for shade. The whole meal was extremely reasonably priced - about 12 euros. We will be back. Grazie mille!

Irma la Dolce is one of my favourite places in Ortigia. The atmosphere is top, the service is great, and, importantly, the food and drinks are wonderful. I absolutely recommend going there to enjoy some of the best of what Ortigia has got to offer. On a sadder note: Today, unfortunately, I witnessed 2 American tourists choose to sit down at a table, completely ignore the sign written in English stating that the café does not cook for celiacs (gluten intolerance), then order drinks and insist on having something to eat without gluten. When being told that the café couldn't accommodate the food wishes, the people took off without paying for their drinks. Absolutely abominable behaviour from the tourists, but well-managed by the wonderful staff at Irma la Dolce.

If you value decent service and don't appreciate being yelled at first thing in the morning, don't even think about coming here.

We were looking forward to a nice cup of coffee but were instead met with hostility. As a group of 5, we were shocked when the restaurant, despite having three empty tables, refused to accommodate us because we were more than four—even when we offered to split into two smaller groups. The staff, particularly the owner, were shockingly rude in enforcing this arbitrary rule.

Ortigia has plenty of other options that are closer to the center, offer a better atmosphere, and treat their customers with respect. I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

*RESPONDING to your reply: the only reason we had to sit in 2 tables was because u told us we couldn’t sit in one. WOW It’s completely unfair to make things up: we never had the chance to order anything much less a coffee AND we never and would ever criticize Sicily! We love Sicily because of its people and have come back many times but it wasn’t the case with...

Please read all the reviews regarding the SERVICE of this place. Owner is extremely rude to all tourists. Dont make the same mistake as us of being fooled by the food reviews.

RESPONDING TO YOUR COMMENT:

Dear Irma,

Irma la Dolce? More like Irma il Grinch. Your pride might carry you a little way, but it’s obvious from all the other reviews that you simply don’t know how to take criticism. You don’t welcome big groups, and while I don’t intend to stoop to your level, if anyone here is showing signs of being unreasonable, it’s actually you.

As for calling the police? The only "crime" we committed was sitting at your establishment. I’m genuinely relieved that I didn’t have to stay, because if this place thrives on anything, it’s certainly not respect. I sincerely hope you find some peace soon, so others won’t have to bear the brunt of...
