Honestly I don't have a slightest idea how this restaurant can have such a good rating.
First of all and the most important thing, food. Food was definitely the worse one we had in Sicily, and I am leaning towards idea that it was the worst I ever had. It was pretty much tasteless, we all had gnochi with pistachio and prawns. It had zero to no taste, no flavor of pistachios or prawns (which happens to be smallest-lowest quality you could possibly get). We also tried mixed grilled meat, which was overcooked, therefore very dry and also tasteless, not sure they have salt in their kitchen. Baked potatoes were actually pretty good, a bit oily, but when you soak that oil with some bread, you can manage.
Then we move to service, cold, not attentive, also if you don't know any Italian you are screwed. We luckily got everything we ordered and we were served right away, but that was only to the fact we were one the first tables there, after people waited 15 minutes just to order, and then another 10-15 to get drinks. And I guess they never heard about wine glasses. You get same glass (I asked for a wine glass in Italian) as you get for coca-cola, water, ...
Ambient inside is actually really cute, looks vintage and rustic is nice. Outside is fine, just traffic noise can get a little on...
Read moreGreat food by great people. Recommended! We went to eat here the evening before we were going to travel back to northern europe by train, early next morning. The food was delicious and the atmosphere perfect, personal and friendly. We left when the restaurant closed and paid less than what the food cost because the owners were so kind, and then we went happily home, with full stomachs and light hearts. A while after we got home, my partner realised she had forgotten her phone in the restaurant and we tried for a long time to call but of course no one answered - and in that phone was half of our nonrefundable tickets back, not on e-mail, but only on that phone. Finally, close to midnight in one last desperate attempt I tried to chat with restaurant through Google maps, and managed in my very very broken italian to get in contact with the son of the owners. He helped me contact his dad and they both came to our rescue, driving all the way across town to open the restaurant for us, long after it had closed. I'm so so grateful! Thank you! GREAT food from GREAT people. Grazie...
Read moreI had dinner here last night as it's very close to my bnb. I arrived around 9pm there were 2 groups of eaters. As time goes two or three more groups arrived so i assume They are quite popular. I was kindly asked wherever i wanna sit. They don't speak much English from the reviews it's a local restaurant. The lady did my order However i think it was mixed up. I asked for a granny salad but got norma pasta. However. At The time they served The pasta to me i was just contemplating ordering a pasta too. And norma is one of my favsx so i happily kept it. I liked the potato blls very much. Tho it does remind me of maccas in hindsight but i enjoyed it. The pasta was very good too. I later also got the granny salad. It was a simple dish only with tomatos onions And ricotta cheese. Happy with all 3 but portion was a bit small. The taste does not blew me away but it was pleasant. The male waiter was also very kind. I did not experience issues with some reviews mentioning They only want to serve Italian customers. Uncomplicated experience. Happy...
