On our first trip to Italy on a Sunday night and our transportation arrangements got so bad that it caused us to also arrive too late for normal check in at our hotel. With no knowledge of the language, we had a very difficult situation on our hands. Almost every thing was closed, and we were exhausted after almost 24-hours in the air, and on the road. And as we desperately needed to get to our room, a few challenges stood in the way. We stopped at the GLAM restaurant to ask for help. Thanks to Guglielmo’s knowledge of our language, his thoughtful and thorough assistance we were able to find ways to get into the place for a much-needed help, even though it had nothing to do with him or his business. The next day coming back from our tours, again very late, hungry and tired. We stopped at the restaurant, but this time to order something to eat. What we wanted to eat was not on the restaurant menu. However, Guglielmo gladly, and in no time, had it made and served it to us. I just wanted to let him know how much his kindness was greatly appreciated and also say thank you so much for going out of his way to helping us feel welcome to Italy and to...
Read moreI truly want to believe something went wrong the day we visited but I feel it is important to share this as well for others.
We sat down at a seemingly quiet moment but we’re completely ignored for 20 minutes. Even after repeated ‘contact moments’. In those 20 minutes you observe quite some things, like the fact that ice cream can be ordered at the table and is brought to you.
However, when the glorious moment came to order, the waiter told us we had to go inside and wait in line there to order ice cream, but coffee would be brought to the table.
So one of us went inside to order ice cream which had to be paid immediately. Then it turned out that their card payment did not work. Now here I think is the source for all of the problems. It would have been best to tell the customer instead of ignoring them. Now we had to do the work that the waiter should have done.
Sadly, I cannot give a seperate rating for the service/food. Ice cream and coffee were nice. But the bad treatment far outweighed this for the rating.
Be aware that it is by a...
Read moreI recently had a bad and surprising experience at this shop that left me feeling a bit frustrated. Let me start by saying that I don't mind paying upfront for my order. It's a common practice in some places, and I totally understand the reasons behind it. However, what bothered me was the inconsistency in how it was enforced.
I found myself in line behind another customer who was allowed to place their gelato order before paying. But when it was my turn, the server asked me to pay first. It felt like I was being singled out for some reason, and it left a sour taste in my mouth (pun intended).
Now, I want to be clear that I don't jump to conclusions or assume the worst in people. But in this particular situation, it really seemed like I was being treated differently based on who I was or how I looked.
Feeling uncomfortable, my wife and I decided to take our business elsewhere. We found another gelato place nearby and had a much more...
