Unfortunately, our visit to Maoi Sunset was far from the “sunset experience” we expected. At first, we were told the restaurant was full—yet somehow, after a moment, a table magically appeared. Sadly, it was not exactly welcoming: the chairs were dirty, and we had to clean them ourselves before sitting down.
We thought we’d just enjoy some drinks, but apparently that’s not allowed—after ordering, we were told to leave the table because we had to order food. Fair enough, we moved to the bar area, only to end up on uncomfortable chairs that did not exactly match the “sunset lounge” vibe.
Then came the service (or rather, the lack of it). We waited about 10 minutes, completely ignored, under the impression our drinks were being prepared. Finally, a new waiter appeared, asked if we wanted to order, and then disappeared before we could even finish telling him our order. Another 10 minutes passed, and we were openly ignored again—especially by one bald waiter, who seemed to pretend we didn’t exist at all.
At that point, we decided that enough was enough and moved on to another bar where service and hospitality were not optional. Trapani has many wonderful places—sadly, Maoi Sunset is not...
Read moreRecommended by the locals and by the tourist office we decided to go here. To be honest it wasn’t fantastic. Drinks were great but expensive. Food was ok but the service was awful. Continuously had to ask for things that should have been already on the table or served with the food.
Edit: Thanks for replying to my review. The way you respond on here cements that you do not prioritise customer service. This is a platform for people to leave their personal experiences to allow customers to make their own decisions before sitting down depending on what they prioritise in an establishment. For me it’s Customer service and great food. Which neither was provided. In regards to the cocktails it was in comparison to the cost in Italy overall. To give your customers an overview of what they might be expecting there in comparison to other places. Remember reviews are based on ones Personal experience on a particular visit not overall facility on everyday of the year. Have...
Read moreWe went there after dinner, wanting to have a few drinks. We were sat outside, without a table, using the small wall as a table. The place has a great view on the sea and the coastline. At nighttime it was pretty and I'm sure it must be great at sunset.
The staff greeted us ok, but they told us that they couldn't make the Moai cocktail (which is their signature cocktail) because it takes too much time to make it. I can understand that some cocktails take a lot of time to make, but the place wasn't even that full at the time. If it's such a bother, just take it out of the menu, I guess?!
The cocktails were not made well, they were not good at all. Too sweet, very low on alcohol. We decided to leave and spend the rest of the evening elsewhere. We will...
