Antica Trattoria del Risorgimento — Restaurant in Tremezzina

Best meal we ate whilst in Italy. Best meal we’ve ate ANYWHERE. Me and my partner stumbled across this restaurant whilst looking around the area, disappointed by the other restaurants that only offered ‘authentic Italy pizza’ or ‘fantastic carbonara’, we wanted to try something more unique and true to Italian cooking. When we found this restaurant and seen the sign in the door regarding the average tourists restaurants surrounding and their menu, we knew we had found the right place.

Everything from the bread, to the amuse-bouche (a pleasant surprise from the chef), all the way to the deserts was incredible, beautiful food made with skill and creativity. A touch that I especially enjoyed was that the atmosphere felt as if you were a guest inside somebody’s home, the inside of the restaurant is very simple and comfortable. The duck on the hot stone surrounded by a leafy bed of greenery, edible flowers and strawberries was especially delicious.

Thank you Chef Paulo for giving us a memorable experience and the servers who were so kind and explained every dish presented to us.

We looked forward a lot to eating here, because of all the rave reviews. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, our reservation was not confirmed. No worries, that happens. The staff's response was rather disappointing. No apology for their part in the misunderstanding, no efforts to find a solution, no suggestion for an alternative nearby.

I realize they cannot create a table out of thin air, but the staff's response was not a prime example of ospitalità.

Okay, wow. That's not entirely what happened (there was a bit of lost in translation situation in English/Italian; I then asked, 'do you need a name?', your colleague said what appeared to be 'no', I repeated the question, and then the connection broke up, so I assumed it was okay, my bad). But that is really besides the point. I wanted to provide feedback that I had been treated rather impolitely when we found out about the mishap, and the tone of your response does little to take away that impression.

Really disappointed with our visit to Antica tonight. We had high expectations due to other reviews, but the service and food were far below average or anything we’ve had on lake como during our visit.

The service was very poor, I finished my glass of wine and was never asked if I wanted another. I tried to get the two waitresses attention but it was so difficult and I just got tired of trying. They also never asked if we wanted dessert or if we enjoyed our meals.

The food was overpriced and lacked flavor. I had the truffle gnocchi and there were barely any truffles I could not even taste it. My husband ordered the eggplant parmesan which was 2 slices of eggplant in a bowl of tomato sauce sprinkled with cheese, for 27 euros.

I would not recommend this restaurant, I come to the como area every year and will never return. There are other restaurants on the lake with better food quality. Don’t...
