I hope you have time to read an elaborate review because boy I have a lot to say about this living nightmare of a hotel. 1. The food is quite literally the worst thing on earth. Beforehand, they tell you the food is ‘traditional Italian food’. Therefore I have inserted the following photos to detest that. Photo 1 shows the coffee (mind you that Italian coffee is amongst the best of this world) that I can’t even explain to you was so genuinely disgusting. Photo 2 shows the lasagna on day 2 of our stay. Respectfully, do these people even have a cook or do the waiters make the food? Photo 3 shows dinner on the second night. Do I need to explain to you why that’s not okay? You eat that at home, not in a restaurant next to Como Lake. Photo 4 shows my chicken that fell apart on day 3 of dinner. It also had 0 taste. Photo 5 shows the wonderful desert they served. Crème brûlée, they say, but in reality this was yoghurt with a layer of burnt tasteless nothing. The dinner was nothing but processed and canned food. Every single night. If the food doesn’t scare you away, then let me try again. 2. The room had some serious problems. We paid some good money for a good hotel yet somehow we end up at two of the three rooms on the ground floor with no view on the lake (four people, two rooms). The one room had a view of some bushes (nice, right? When they advertise the hotel with a view of the Como Lake?) The other room had a view on the back of the restaurant (photo 6) with the staff smoking right in front of the window that had a transparent curtain. We therefore had to cover the curtain with an extra towel to make sure the staff couldn’t look inside and see us showering (photo 7). The first room in question had a shower that fell apart whenever we used it (photo 8&9). The AC was nice but automically shut off after approximately 15 minutes of using it. Moreover, if you set the temperature too cold, it shuts itself off, as well. 3. The staff is literally rude. The weren’t helpful whatsoever when we expressed our complains about our rooms, dinner or the way they charged us more for the parking price (which is €15/day). It seems they want to be there just as little as you do. 4. There’s no way to lock the door from the inside, for there is only a lock on the outside of the door. You need another person to lock the person from the outside for you. All in all, if you book a stay at this hotel don’t be surprised at the literal nightmares you will get for months afterwards. This hotel is the worst place I’ve ever stayed at. DON’T GO HERE!!!! There are many different hotels around Como Lake that I can guarantee are of much better quality. If anything, don’t book a room at Hotel Lario (you have been warned).

The hotel itself is very nice, with a beautiful view – from the 4th floor you can already see the lake, and it was also great to have a pool. The breakfast was quite good, though I really missed fresh vegetables such as tomatoes or cucumbers, and the coffee was only from a machine. The food in general felt overpriced for the quality – for example, the steak was quite dry. What I also missed in the room were some basic amenities: no complimentary water or coffee/tea facilities were provided. For a 3-star hotel in Italy costing €220 per night, one would definitely expect at least a bottle of water and a coffee machine in the room. Apart from that, the room was spacious and clean, which I appreciated.

This is the worst Hotel (hostel) that I ever stayed in and still can't believe that that I paid to stay here.|Communal dining tables, 8pm dining and the worst most appalling food that I ever know to be served in a hotel. We did request on several occasions our own table but the hotel management simply said ''No'' |I don't believe that any of the food was fresh, all canned or packet. Main course consisted two tin slices of meat or fish and one greasy overcooked veg, normally out of a tin. Dessert as outlined in previous reviews doesn't deserve comment. Sad looking soup with ''One'' slice of bread per person at the table.|The staff present the guest each evening with a half page of an A4 sheet of paper as the menu and you must initial the menu to select what you want to eat the follow evening. Each person at the table is serviced with a plate which already has the two food items on it arranged in the kitchen. |No allowance made for people leaving on coach trip or departing for the airport as breakfast will not be served before 7.15am and it is ''Self Service'' with a very limited range of food. A plastic bag with food in it is presented to each person for early morning travel to the airport.|Most of the staff are friendly but one or two of them have a poor attuite to their guest. |No facilities (kettle/cups/coffee/glasses ) in the bedrooms which are tiny with two single beds pushed together. Air conditioning which only works sometime and a building project going on next door. |The view from the very small balcony is beautiful but the two chairs on the balcony are so worn and frayed that it's difficult to use them. |There are no facilities for relaxing after the very poor meal and the bar opens up into the dining room which is closed after the ''Even Meal'' |The road is to dangerous to walk on in the evening to go to another restaurant or hotel.|Had I not been on a packet holiday I've left after the second day.|Unfortunately the worst of all is that the front doors of the Hotel (Hostel) are chained and locked over night and only opened when staff come on to open the dining room for breakfast at 7.15am. Should there be a fire during the night there is no way out. As this is illegal in Ireland I presume that it's also illegal in Italy.
