We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. My wife and I are frequent travelers and we both understand all hotels have pos and cons, buy on this case it was impossible to find the balance. Yes, the hotel is extremely well located and looks very nice. However, the management total lack of professionalism, customer service and manners really made this the worst hotel experience of our lives. They went out of their way to make us feel uncomfortable. Allow me to explain, The pool was extremely cold and full of dead insects. The room looked clean and spacious, but really outdated and the sleeping quality was terrible beginning with the bed and ending with the traffic noise. Breakfast is included, but nothing extraordinary, just the typical continental breakfast you would expect from any chain hotel, not a family owned hotel in Italy. There is curfew beginning at midnight at the hotel. They first night we arrived after midnight and they told us we cannot do that again, what? The second night we arrived at 12:08 and realized they had changed the front gate lock so we could not park our car inside the hotel. We called the owners and they came down, since they live next door. They lied to our faces and said they lock had not been changed. My wife tried to explain and they asked her to be quiet and said we had no right to be upset. This is when we realized they this hotel was not interested in customer service and were out to make our stay as unpleasant as possible. On the website it says the hotel closes at midnight, but it does not indicate the parking which is included in the price would also be close since they put a lock on the front gate. Check Out, during our check out they owners questioned our friend's review, who had the same experience and on top of that had been changed from room to room every single night, and some of these rooms did not even have AC. The owners blamed our friend's review on us and clearly wanted to provoke us into starting a new argument. We explained our friends have the right to express their opinion and we were only interested in checking out and not missing our flight. They continued to be confrontational and finally noticed we were not interested in arguing with them. The entire stay was a very uncomfortable situation, beginning with the poor sleep quality, pool full of dead insects and terrible attitude and customer service receive from the hotel owners. Lake Como is a very beautiful place and we strongly recommend you visit it, but just avoid this hotel if you do not want to have your...
Read moreI dont normally write reviews whilst still in an hotel but the VIlla Marie is so good I cant resit writing one .We booked through TUI and flew from Bristol to Verona its a good two hour transfer to Lake Como and as we were the only people staying in Tremezzo our transfer was by taxi .|We had booked a Delux lake view room and it is a lovely big room ,triple aspect with a beautiful view over the lake .The room has been recently refurbished and the bathroom is spacious and well appointed . .Although on a VERY NOISY busy road the sound proofing is superb you cannot hear any noise at all if the windows are closed , a very efficient quiet AC system keeps the room very cool ,its hot here at the moment 30 degrees upwards good AC is essential .The beds are extreemly comfortable and we have been sleeping very well indeed .The family who run the hotel are lovely friendly and helpful very personalised service with a smile you feel very welcome The hotel is spotlessly clean and has a lovely calm atmosphere , breakfast is good ,home made cake and jams lots of choice fruit ,eggs ,ham ,cheese ,walnut granola etc ,plenty of food the apricot croisents are yummy .The whole of Lake Como is beautiful and there are many places to visit ,Belagio,Varena and a trip on the Bernina train to St Moritz are must sees .This hotel is in a great position for accessing the ferries that take you to different parts of the lake .Although only rated a three star the overall quality makes it much more superior than average 3 star hotels .|I have stayed in 5 star hotels that were not so good as far as the service and management was concerned .There are a few resteraunts towards the centre of Tremezzo the most popular appears to be the Red and White wine bar ,where he food is plentiful ,good and reasonably priced .The hotel Villa Marie provides light meals for lunch and dinner its a small menu but the food is very tasty . .We can certainky highly recommend this superb hotel and if we ever come back to Lake Como it will be our...
Read morePossibly one of the best boutique hotels we booked on our entire European honeymoon!
Hotel Villa Marie is located in Tremezzo and about a 10 minute walk from the port. When we arrived, we were greeted by such friendly staff & reception. You can tell they run this place which such love & care. The owner even gave us a glass of presence to wish us congratulations on our honeymoon :)
We had booked the deluxe room with lake view in mid September which was the perfect size! A gorgeous mini balcony to wake up to in the morning. Bedroom & bathroom were both spacious and we have copious amount of closet and drawer space. Despite it being a “older” hotel which we were a bit nervous about, the rooms are clean and very well maintained. They also provide guests with a room key with a unique key chain which is quite heavy so they encourage you to drop it off everytime you leave the hotel and pick it up at reception upon return. I personally love that special touch!
Each morning, we got to enjoy the continental breakfast downstairs in the terrace & breakfast room which had quite a bit of variety (croissants, yogurts, fruits, cured meats, scrambled eggs, toast, juice & coffee). The hotel has the most stunning front terrace & rooftop terrace for guests to enjoy. We unfortunately didn’t enjoy the pool since it was a bit cold or try the in house restaurant since we were always out & about Como but hopefully next time when we come back.
The wifi is a bit spotty at times which would be the only negative comment if we have to be picky. Overall, I’d say this is definitely the place to book if staying in Tremezzo. Not only will you be away from the hustle & bustle of tourists but you’ll be well taken care of at a fraction of the price compared to other 3/4 star hotels....
