This review isn't about gelato. I just wanted to reach out to the owners of this shop and say a massive thank you for helping me and my family at our time of need. We had a really negative experience hopping between the villages via ferry across Lake como. To cut a long story short, we had no way of getting back to our apartment in Como, because all ferries were booked out and over crowded (we even purchased tickets to get on the ferry, but they wouldn't let us on because of overcrowding), and the only bus that comes every hour wouldn't stop for us because it being full every time. We had 2 toddlers and it was 10.30pm. After trying to find any means of transport to get back to Como since 5.30pm we were feeling defeated and accepting our reality of having to sleep on the streets with our children for the night (yes, we even called all the hotels in the area and they were fully booked). Then, the owner of this shop kindly called his taxi friends (may I add, he tried calling them continuously as they weren't picking up to begin with), and finally secured us a taxi drive back home. I am forever grateful for...
Read moreI read through so many bad reviews for this place so I gotta be honest I was hesitant about going here but the place looked really cute so let's try it out. First of all let's talk about the price. People complaining about paying 3€(medium size) for real gelato is insane to me. Back home in the US for a small cup of homemade ice is normally well over $6 so I consider this cheap. The portion size is also as expected for real gelato. The woman at the front counter I can probably agree isn't the nicest person she had the attitude like that she wants to get people moving cause the line is normally long so if you do not know what you want please step to the side. The gelato was fantastic and we ended up going back twice. Remember people this is real gelato not ice cream. They are two separate things! So don't listen to the bad reviews this place is delicious, just know what you want when you get to the front of the line.
In addition they have this super cute piaggio gelato truck that parks at the...
Read moreOur group spent two weeks in Italy. We went to Milan, Lake Como, the Dolomites, Venice, Parma, La Spezia, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. – Why do you care where we went??? Because in all of our travels Galateria La Fabbrica del Gelato was our VERY VERY VERY favorite gelato that we had! You know you are getting the good stuff when all of the gelato is covered with lids. They aren’t trying to impress you with mounds of chemicals, food coloring, or ridiculous unicorn flavors… this place is all about incredible quality. Do yourself a favor: go ahead and get the LARGE-sized gelato. :o) I will forever be dreaming of this little gem in Lenno. Thank you for such a...
