The staff is rude. Never go there! My friend and I had made a day-trip to a city 50km far away from Trieste and on our way back home we changed our route just to go to this restaurant since we had read the good reviews. We were really excited to go there! When we arrived in Trieste it was 16h, the restaurant was closed, but we had made this long journey just to eat there so we went for a walk first and came back at 18h when we were sure the restaurant would be open again. There was only a couple in the whole restaurant sitting on a table for four people. The waitress guided us to a table for two on the corridor, really on the way of the kitchen. Since the restaurant was completely empty, my friend asked kindly if it would be possible to sit on a table for 4. The waitress (it seems she is the boss) was so rude and said with making strong gestures with her hands and really loud voice: "Two, two!" and didn't allow us to move to other table. Why we couldn't if there was a couple on a table for four? We started thinking of leaving already at that point, but since we drove from so far and we heard that the food there was good and it was cold and raining outside, we decided to give a chance. But then the most bizarre situation happened: the menu was in Italian, naturally, and we could not understand everything so I called the waitress to ask her if she could help me to understand one specific dish. Again, she was completely rude and said: "No English!! No English"!!! I replied (I swear I was really polite): "Hum, could you just try a little bit to explain me this dish"?. Again: "No English, no English!!!", she was screaming loudly. I: "How can I order then?"... Then, she pointed us the door and screamed: "Go out!!!!". Really! She told us to leave the restaurant just because we don't speak Italian or Chinese! We stood up and said: "But we just wanted to eat...". And she started saying bad words in Italian (I do understand a little bit of Italian since I am a native Portuguese speaker and few words are quite similar). She started really cursing bad words. No other employee did anything to help at that time. There were at least four more there. And no one moved a finger to try to calm down the situation. Everyone was starring at us if WE were the crazy ones (not SHE). On the way of the door, we still tried to calm down the situation but she said again: "GO OUT!". That was the first time in my life, in all the countries I visited, that this kind of situation happened....
Read moreUnfortunately have to say the food overall was quite disappointing, despite the very affordable prices. I got the set with 5 pieces of grilled meats + the mixed sashimi. First off, the miso soup was very diluted. I could barely taste any miso. Also usually it should have pieces of seaweed/kombu in it. The salad was quite soggy. The grilled meat platter was just bad. Everything had a mushy texture and there is no char. The sauce should be sticky, not liquidy and drowning the meat. Its almost like the teriyaki sauce came straight out of the bottle. The sashimi was fine. The jasmine green tea also could afford to use actual tea leaves.
Service was great and the prices are cheap. But unfortunately i will not be...
Read moreThe last time we came here was two years ago, and it’s still just as good. The staff are welcoming and always smiling. The owner kindly prepared soy sauce with wasabi for us, explaining how to mix the right amount. We ordered 7 spiedini, the Royal menu, and mochi for dessert. In my opinion, the quality of salmon here is the best in Trieste, better than any other sushi place. The only downside was that the rice was a bit too soggy, and the soup lacked miso. Another nice touch is that each table has a USB cable and socket for charging phones. I definitely...
