La Pista Restaurant — Restaurant in Turin

WOOOW just WOOW! I visited Torino on the 08.09. for just a day and since I had very limited time I chose to have lunch at the Lingotto complex rather than searching for a restaurant in the city. To be honest, I chose the La Pista initially for its proximity and for being on the top of the building and literally next to the legendary Fiat test track. I had no idea of its concept, decoration and menu. But what a surprise!!! I was greeted like royalty, despite being very.. casualy dressed and for sure not according to the restaurant's image and atmosphere. Nevertheless the staffs behaviour made me very comfortable, being extremely polite, responsive and always by my side for anything that I might needed. Since I do not drink alcohol, I asked the maitre for an non alcoholic apperitif, which he made for me in zero time. I can easily say it is one of the best I have ever had, being super flavourful and fresh. As for the dishes... Ohh dear...That first dish, with the black rice, the tuna the dressing, so tasteful, so fresh and so interesting as a concept .. Then the calamari and shrimp plate followed by a very flavourful sauce and accompanied by potato chips, handmade to be exact, all and all a tasteful plate and a wise choice. Interestingly it blended very well with the apperitif. And finally the desert.. I am a chocolate addict, yes and it fulfilled my expectations 1.000%, being fresh and full of flavour. With the check, a small plate with sweet bites came along and with that my experience at the La Pista had a very satisfying end. I also liked the modern decoration of the restaurant but I have a feeling that at night it's looks even better. I am SO VERY PLEASED with the restaurant and I promise I will be back. Cudos to the super attendive staff, my sincere BRAVO for their professionalism. As for the prices, I expected to be far more expensive than they actually were and that was another pleasant surprise. Saputo della riapertura della Pista abbiamo deciso di andarlo a provare con un’altra coppia. Il locale, non c’è dubbio, è molto bello e accogliente con tavoli grandi e ben distanziati. La terrazza purtroppo era riservata ad un evento privato ma ne parleremo in seguito. Il menu si presenta in modo particolare senza un ordine classico che ci si aspetterebbe; il che potrebbe incuriosire ma anche risultare a tratti confusionario. Quello che presumiamo sia il maître cerca di presentarci il menu ad un tempo record creando soltanto ulteriore confusione (e poi non si è più visto). Carta vini appena sufficiente. Ordinata una bottiglia di champagne ci viene servita E FINITA al primo giro riempiendo i bicchieri come fosse birra. Risultato? Champagne caldo e nessuna portata ancora arrivata. Riguardo ai nostri ordini: Patanegra che tutto era tranne patanegra (sembrava un culatello o crudo spagnolo sia per taglio che per consistenza e grassezza); ravioli ai ricci discreti così come lo spaghettone alle vongole. Il menu incuriosiva per l’ampia proposta di carni alla brace; peccato che quella da noi ordinata (3 coste) risultava un po’ dura. Abbiamo ordinato un branzino pescato da 1kg e cotto alla brace che era buono, i contorni sono da rivedere (2 mini ciotole con tre figlie di lattughino scondito - ordinati i condimenti mai arrivati- e finocchi crudi con arancia). Dolci molto buoni. Le noti dolenti sono purtroppo dovute al servizio che pecca di professionalità fin dalle cose più semplici. Abbiamo menzionato una festa prima, a metà della cena TUTTO il personale era sparito (preso dalle attenzioni verso la festa esterna dove erano presenti amici evidentemente) ci siamo dovuti servire lo champagne da soli (la seconda bottiglia) e siamo rimasti senza acqua per una buona mezz’ora. Per non parlare dello stato dei bagni…PIETOSO. Un via vai continuo di giovani invitati al party che lasciavano di tutto (bicchieri di cocktail, sporcizia e altro…) e non c’era un minimo controllo da parte dello staff sia per la pulizia che per il ricambio degli asciugamani per le mani. Al termine della cena ci viene lasciato un “cadeau”. Dei germogli misteriosi in un bicchiere di carta. Abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni su cosa fossero e come usarli ma ci hanno risposto che erano appena arrivati e non ne avevano idea: anzi ci hanno suggerito di scaricare un app per cercare in autonomia il nome dei germogli.
