C'era Una Volta — Restaurant in Umbertide

I have been at C'era Una Volta a few times and everytime, the food has been amazing!

One thinks that one knows what a tomato tastes like, but then you eat here and realise your life has been a lie. This little town has delectable produce and this restaurant uses them wonderfully.

The owners are down-to-earth and the servers can understand English if you need it. The menu has both Italian and English descriptions, but I would recommend choosing a variety of the specials that are different daily.

Depending on the season, you'll also have a different menu. I would also recommend getting the Antipasti platter while having a glass of the house wine (the white wine is a grechetto, delicious!)

Durante un viaggio turistico in Umbria, io e mia moglie, a ora di cena, abbiamo cercato in rete un locale che avesse non solo buone recensioni, ma anche facilità di parcheggio. In questo ristorante, nonostante l'aspetto esteriore non particolarmente accattivante, abbiamo trovato gestori gentilissimi e accoglienza familiare. La cucina è davvero ottima! Piatti sfiziosi, creativi e variati. La signora Laura, la titolare, lavora personalmente in cucina e al tempo stesso riesce a essere disponibile accanto ai clienti per consigli e spiegazioni sui vari piatti. È evidente che svolge questa attività con grande passione. È molto selettiva nella scelta delle carni, dei vari prodotti e degli ingredienti, usando di preferenza prodotti locali di aziende selezionate. Usa, ad esempio, grani antichi, e predilige lavorazioni manuali invece che a macchina. E prepara il tutto con massima cura e un risultato gradevole anche agli occhi, oltre che al palato.
