We had high expectations for this restaurant based on the website and reviews, but sadly it fell short.
To start, we were told there was parking onsite which turned out not to be true. We spent time driving around in circles trying to find a spot, which made us late for our booking.
The atmosphere was another disappointment. The website promoted music and DJs, but there was neither. The restaurant itself was empty and lacked any energy. Despite this, we were seated right next to another couple with a very young baby for a 9 pm sitting, while the rest of the restaurant stayed empty all night.
The food itself was good and I cannot fault the quality. However, the service was mixed. Some staff were friendly and attentive, while others seemed unsure how to clear plates or offer proper wine advice. For the prices being charged, you would expect consistency and a higher standard of service.
A final frustration came with dessert. We declined dessert when asked, but were still brought two small doughnuts. Out of politeness we ate one, only to find later that we had been charged 10 euros for them. At our exchange rate this felt obscene and frankly unacceptable.
Overall, this place felt more suited to an early evening bite if you are not looking for much of an atmosphere. We were recommended by the waiter to try their hotel bar which is currently ranked number 1 in Italy. We are going there tomorrow. Let’s hope that lives up to the expectations!...
Read moreBeautiful beach club with an intimate feel. We played out Gazebos (even though, if you choose to eat at gazebote, please note, the is 'only' a large but low coffetable and one chair). The service is attentive and friendly; amongst the best experienced at beach clubs. That said, don't come here if your plan is to have a nice lunch and / or beach day WITH lunch. The food is average at best - especially for Italian standards - and has come overcooked several times. Safest bet is to stay with the salad(s) or fresh fruit(s). Especially considering the premium prices, one should be able to expect more premium preparation. That said, all in all: definitely a beach club to explore if you have no...
Read moreBeautiful beach in front of principe. Problem was the food : not at the level of Italy, not at the level of a palace
I even got food poisoned after the meal for half a day. Chicken was ridiculous (a bad piece of meat, served without anything). Fried stuff were simply impossible. Coffee was perfect. Tab was absurd like everything at Principe.
Won’t return; you have so many better choices...
