Il Grillo is an absolute must for anyone visiting this lovely, medieval town. Easy to reach (near the entrance to the pedestrian zone) and near public parking, Il Grillo is the perfect example of a "hole in the wall," where you'll find as many locals as travelers.

There are only 10 tables inside this tiny, yet nicely decorated trattoria. Prices are good, and the food (prepared by two sisters) is incredible! Il Grillo is a cozy trattoria tucked away just beyond the main square, and it completely captured our hearts (and stomachs). The dining room is intimate, with wooden beams, warm lighting, and local art. We started with a plate of crostini misti – the mushroom and truffle pate was outstanding. For mains, I had pappardelle with wild boar ragu, and my partner tried the coniglio alla cacciatora (rabbit stew). Both were deeply flavorful, rustic, and comforting. We forgot to make a reservation, but they were still able to seat us. They turned the heat on for my children since we were next to the door. The food was so good that we talked about making the 5 hour drive again in the near future. We stumbled on this restaurant on accident and we are so thankful we did. They made pasta for my girls with with butter and cheese, I had the best local steak and my spouse had the boar pasta.
